Pluto transits – Metamorphosis
Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, Element-Water, 8th house, black tourmaline, bloodstone, Root Chakra, protection, grounding, empowerment, rage, obsession, compulsion, death, destruction, transformation.
Pluto deals with fundamental change. The extremes of Pluto’s powerful will and drive, fierce loyalty, privacy and powerful desire nature beckons and compels evolution and growth in the deepest possible way. Most levels of movement from unconscious to conscious awareness is a Pluto process which is slow, gradual and regenerative that takes its own course and time for fulfillment. Pluto evolution commonly causes much upheaval and extreme circumstances that create a lasting and compelling impact and often change that becomes permanent. Usually following a Pluto transit or experience, a new person, being or world emerges, where the persona or way of being existing before is no longer recognizable nor comprehended.
Pluto has been moving through Capricorn since 2008 and will stay in Capricorn until 2024. Pluto reaches a critical marker in 2019 as Saturn and Pluto join in Capricorn and culminates to a super conjunction of Jupiter Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn in 2020. We saw the massive shifts globally with the economic crisis and meltdown begin in 2008 once Pluto moved into Capricorn, and then hit a major turning point, with Uranus square Pluto, demonstrating the cataclysmic effects of Pluto’s power. Pluto represents forceful evolution and in Capricorn the consequences suffered. Much of Pluto energy surrounds powerful attachments, obsession, compulsion, power, dominance, instinct, survival, crisis, intensity and extreme will power. Pluto (Scorpio ruler) is also associated with death, rebirth, taxes, sex and deep intimacy, betrayal, the occult, psychic phenomena and the collective resources of others through inheritance, partners, insurance, investments.
Pluto in Astrology is grasping and potent. Because it is so strongly connected with the life force energy, will and sexuality, its not an energy taken lightly. Recently abandoned by NASA as a planet, Pluto still exhibits its pervasive influence as there is no denying its presence. Pluto Capricorn continues to be seen with the current political unrest and global chaos with the economy. Pluto’s movement through the expansive and exuberant energy of Sagittarius (1995-2008) demonstrated massive growth and how greed and deregulation/ninja lending lacking any sense or order caused such calamity. Pluto in Capricorn is now showing the somber repercussions and correction of lack of government (Capricorn) control on a disordered irresponsible structure of free fall markets and deregulation. Jupiter extremities and excess –the bubble burst. Pluto in Capricorn is a major overhaul from the bottom.
The butterfly symbolizes change, transformation and rebirth. It sheds its cocoon born again as a new life. A snake sheds its skin continuously uncovering layers of its being. Change is inescapable, inevitable and the one true guarantee. No matter what, whether you want it or not, your life will continue to bring you change. Cycles keep repeating themselves some in one lifetime, and then those from past lives. There are junctures, turns in the road, forks in the road-cross roads. Pluto transits are of a forceful nature that pushes the soul forward in evolution. Those infected with Pluto strong will move through many crisis and deep transformations and feel like they live many lifetimes in their life. Some repeated experiences and some just a one time deal.
Pluto’s impact and wake of residue is often residual and lingering upon change and loss. There are changes and there are choices. Pluto rules over changes, transitions and transformations that are life altering and final and are often out of one’s control and without choice. The extremes of Pluto are the result of the perpetual attachment and gripping energy of Pluto’s hold. Pluto’s tragedies are demonstrating the ultimate lesson in life that nothing lasts forever and everything has its own ending. The true guarantee and certainty and what you can count on is death and taxes as so poignantly portrayed in the movie Meet Joe Black.
The Grim Reaper will visit us all and once through a Pluto transformation, there is no return to the life before whether in literal death or metaphorically as we pass through stages of our life. Death is the ultimate and final transition so its no wonder that Pluto rules over grief as the changes and losses are final. Grieving is an integral step in a Pluto transformation whether a loss of a relationship, job, career, pet, death of a loved one-loss of a dream, health, youth, innocence-even loss over choices we made in life as choices always reflect areas we had to let go in order to move onto a new horizon. Pluto often takes one to hitting bottom and self destruction in order to literally bottom out, reach the depths of Hades that one may rise again-hence the term rising Phoenix associated with Scorpio, ruled by Pluto.
Pluto transits chart the celestial atmosphere and the shifting in our dimension. Each transit brings a new meeting with our self and hence new meaning and character. Our chart is a platform from which we evolve and grow and Pluto’s impact is the most confrontational and forceful in shifting our parameters and focus. Most Pluto transits will point out areas in your life that need to transform which often presents very painful circumstances in order to meet these necessary transitions. Often the formidable experiences and energies are needed to wake one up to the reality of a situation and that betrayals, losses, tragedies compel you to face inner demons in order to expel them.
Pluto gives the ammunition to stand up and take action against destructive situations. Many times during Pluto transits situations continue to occur around powers struggles, abuse, betrayal and bullying until we learn to stand up and defend ourselves where Pluto gives empowerment. Taking ownership of your own power takes courage, guts and true grit. Its a knowing and trusting in your own internal authority and not letting anything or anyone topple you over. You can be stripped of everything external-money, relationships, jobs, career, status, looks etc. but once you are empowered nothing can shake you or take away who you are. Fearlessness is the ultimate weapon of power.
Pluto works on pure survival and instinct and deep emotion. Pain triggers are real. We don’t have built in alarm signals for nothing. If something doesn’t feel good, you have to learn to protect yourself. Pain is a message that something isn’t good for you. This may sound elementary and no brainer obvious but the whole principle of masochism and sadism figure in this scenario strong for those who linger in the cycle of abuse with both victim and perpetrator which is usually based on deep ingrained learned patterns from our early environment as children.
So many people have Pluto complexes buried so deep in their psyches, it takes a major upheaval (usually a powerful Pluto transit) to trigger these deeply held pains to bring them to the surface. These periods can be very frightening and overwhelming due to the rage, explosiveness and loss of control that can occur with the range of the manifestation. These are prime times to go into an intensive therapy of some sort, to unleash primal rage (primal scream therapy) and to let surface purely ID energy that isn’t socially accepted. The Scream (primal) works on Pluto principles. “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore”.
These periods focus on change, the inner awareness of which can be very painful, mainly because change requires a process of ‘letting go’. Pluto reigns over attachment and refusal to let go. There are possibly eons of lifetimes connected with any particular cord that is to be ‘let go’, in addition to the current lifetime’s accumulation. Therefore the ‘pain’ can be extremely intense because it is of the past as well as the present. Cords or energy connections are attachments and hold you in a groove, like the groove of a record repeating the same bar of music. Maybe there is nothing wrong with that bar but you can’t move forward in your experiences of life if you keep repeating the same patterns until one day awareness rudely wakes you and enables you to see what is happening.
The natal chart shows tendencies, habits and patterns deeply ingrained into our comfort zone and our familiar route and an etching of direction we follow. These patterns are met with each transiting planet to bring them to life. Pluto will drive to the deepest core to create the profoundest change. If there is a challenging pattern or habit, Pluto transits offer an opportunity to shake up that core essence. Awareness gives us the opportunity to make decisions about what happens to us. Letting the tides carry you is just blind adherence to inevitability. It also shows potential and with knowledge of this potential the same chart energies could make you a great sports star or a serial murderer. This is an analogy of fate and free will. The extremity of this analogy bears its meaning in the pole between the extremes which is as elusive as any charts’ manifestation. The inherent extremity of Pluto’s effects should always be on a watchful eye as to its transits and development as there is no doubt going to be powerful and deep turns at these junctures.
Black Bird Fly
“Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to be free
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise”
