New Moon in Gemini June 2012
The New Moon in Gemini June 19 2012 at 28 degrees is our second after the Solar Eclipse (New Moon) in Gemini which isn’t typical. Gemini already is associated with the twins and duality, here we have a pair of Gemini New Moons. This New Moon is concentrated in Gemini with Venus, Jupiter and the south node in Gemini. The New Moon will align with the Galactic Equator –the Galactic Equator is always around the summer and winter Solstice however holds more meaning with the New Moon over it. With the south node in Gemini still, we continue to be strongly fused with Gemini sources from our past and the old- tuning into our mental processes and reformatting our mindset-brainstorming into new ideas.
This New Moon in Gemini also adds up to 3 – June 19 2012 as the Solar Eclipse New Moon May 20 2012 did. 3 is the number of Gemini-the number of interlinking, communication and opening channels. Gemini is mutable, the sign of flexibility believed to be the most necessary survival skill as change is ever evident requiring one to be open to adapt. The color yellow, golden yellow stones and yellow flowers are the Sun focus as well as the 3rd chakra representing the Sun and our ego and power center all aligning with our highest expression of the Sun-which gets extra amped with Jupiter joy and abundance. In our part of the world, the west is in dire need of some of that yellow glow-usually the Lunar Cycles bring shifts in direction in the weather and I see prayers for Sun now on the horizon.
The New Moon takes place over Canada’s Moon in Gemini. There is quite a bit of activity over Canada’s chart as we see the stirrings in our Liberal party-a lack of Liberal representation leaving us limp with limited contenders. Michael Ignatieff was brilliant but somehow lost the public appeal, Trudeau is charming as his father and touted as “fresh meat” but will he be taken seriously? The latest shocking supposed “nazi” salute to Stephen Harper in the House of Commons is shown in his chart up for some challenge with transit Uranus (shock) square his Saturn Capricorn at 6 degrees-the first hit the last few months will again hit throughout the latter part of this year-indicating some upheaval. Saturn will also be opposing his Sun in Taurus next year as Canada has a Saturn return in 2014 – a new course in our hopeful democracy.
Plenty is changing in the next week and coming to turn on this New Moon dime. June 20th, Mars will reach 23 degrees Virgo, the degree point leaving its shadow where it went retrograde in January. Venus will turn direct as will Saturn although both Saturn and Venus are stationing where we will feel the slowing holding sticky pattern the next couple of weeks. Venus is currently retrograde square Chiron Pisces retrograde which may be bringing up some wounds, pain and sore spots around finances, possessions, partnerships (contracts) and relationships-heart break or heartache and activate the heart chakra. Venus will hit a nice stride with Uranus most of this week which will give some pizzazz and lighten the heavy load although it also inconjunct (150 degrees) Pluto calling for some uncomfortable adjustments and compromises-something has gotta go.
Venus square Chiron retrograde may well bring up any issues/pain that hasn’t been completely dealt with-whatever house Venus rules in your chart (6th house health or work, 2nd-finances etc.) will show this unfinished business that is getting sorted now in your psyche and will come to some resolution over the next few months-. This transit will open up those tender spots as retrogrades dredge and bring up the past. Chiron Pisces is specifically having us wash over our sins or reminders of the past (sacrifices, losses, resentments, victimization- exposing to the depths and bottoms of our souls). Working with stones for Venus help ease through any wounding such as rose quartz, emerald and pink tourmaline and keep the heart (heart chakra) open.
Venus Saturn sitting at stationing points is a shining case in point particularly over Greece and the election June 17th through the Balsamic Moon. Transit Saturn Libra at 22 degrees Libra is stressing Greece Sun Capricorn 22 degrees Saturn Aries 21 degrees. Greece having natal Sun square Saturn Jupiter shows where the austerity sets in (Saturn) due to some excess (Jupiter). Transit Chiron is over Greece Venus in Pisces/ASC showing the wound to its identity with reference to money (Venus).
The focus on Gemini and the mental processes brings up issues around mental health. With Uranus square Pluto in its near exact aspect-many fight with anxiety disorders, PTSD and general mental stress and tension and drug therapy to numb our emotions is becoming the norm. We expect to feel a general happy state at all times and don’t allow the natural rhythms that flow. The Moon and Mercury are fast moving planets that show these ebbs and flows through the cycles instead many would prefer to stay in a permanent state of zone out bliss-the normal worries and stresses and grieving and sadness play a part in our creative and soul development-we miss out when we close those communication channels off.
With Gemini on the pulse, particularly Jupiter in Gemini- we had an interesting story about a group in hypnosis who were having difficulty coming out of their trances. The power of the mind gone amok-truly a Jupiter Gemini in process-Jupiter expands anything and the mind took over! This just demonstrates how powerful our minds are at this time with Jupiter’s capacity to take our mind to where we direct it. Meditative practices will be very productive as well as any mind altering or enhancing activity.
We also have continued violence and another tragedy with a shoot out in Edmonton-armored truck being taken over and guards murdered. The summer Solstice on June 20 takes us into a new heightened phase as the Sun enters Cancer and begins to move to a critical grand square on June 27th. Things will get more acute as Uranus Pluto hits its exact square June 24th just before the Sun Cancer Moon Libra Quarter Moon forming a grand square to Uranus Pluto. June 29th the Sun will be at 8 degrees Cancer, tightening up a tsquare which most likely will entail some type of crisis.
There has been much in the news about the post daredevil tight rope walk over Niagara Falls by Nik Wallenda. What is the driving psychology behind why people get their thrills from danger and death defying acts risking their lives literally living on the edge? In many charts I have noticed a prominent Uranus or Pluto-excitement (Uranus) + fear (Pluto) = adrenaline rush. Nik’s walk is the quintessential Uranus square Pluto act. He gave the overriding message and proved how any challenge or obstacle can be overcome with your mind-mind over matter.
The timing for the high wire walk was on the line literally – exciting watching the exact moment he stepped out with the event chart – a few moments can shift circumstances significantly. Pluto directly over the ASC at 10PM may have been thought too tempestuous, 9PM with Saturn over the MC may have felt too heavy an influence-(they are gypsies so I am sure they picked the chart time!). Nik stepped out at exactly 10:15 PM with Mercury directly over the DESC sextile Moon Taurus IC – adding the precision rational perspective he needed to keep during the balancing act. The ASC-DESC is the horizontal axis (the balancing pole) that needed Mercury’s mental muscle. He had Mars trine the ASC which gave him the confidence to finish strong with a little sprint at the end. The Moon Taurus was anchored on the IC to give him security and steady calm concentration. Saturn (strict, difficult, challenging) with Libra (balance) –its as if Nik was embodying the complete principle of Saturn Libra.
The Wallenda’s come from a line of the traveling circus – close to my heart of Austrian Hungarian roots that typify the inherent circus performers and gypsies. I must have been part of this tribe in past lives as I commonly meet people who are daredevils, risk takers, animal trainers, acrobatics and gypsies. Niagara Falls brings great memories to me as I grew up very close to Niagara Falls and spent many springs and summers there in my childhood.
Of course my chart too has very strong risk taking features which explains my draw to taking chances and going out on a limb or stepping over the edge. I used to get my kicks sitting and hanging over edges of cliffs or taking elevators to skyscraper roof tops. I certainly have taken on a few crazy stunts of my own or have lived vicariously through others wild antics.
With some reminiscing and father’s day, I have been watching so many kids lately take their new plunges from their 3 wheeler and training wheels to their daring first attempts to 2 wheels –all those proud parents prepping to release you to take the new found freedom ride when the timing is right- to be brave to release and let you go to feel the first rush of thrilling exhilaration. Those first steps to those daredevil turns taking flight and spreading your wings. My first bike – a lizard green hot rod sooped up with a banana seat decorated with flower power, with a little front wheel and a big fat back tire-it was the grooviest thing!
