New Moon in Aquarius
New Moon in Aquarius “The Age of Aquarius” The 5th Dimension
The Moon in Aquarius is time to hit the refresh button, start something new that breaks routine and is out of character. The ruler of Aquarius, Uranus is the innovator that pushes toward the next great thing and invention and with it the risks such as we saw with space travel losing those brave astronauts along the way. Uranus was in Aquarius from mid 1990 to 2002 during the start of the technology boom and surge with dot.com during the dot com bubble and now Uranus in Aries is blazing trails forward with further technological advances.
True to Aquarius form, recent new discovery information of a ninth planet (Planet X) is all the rage coinciding with a planetary alignment. This has been talked about in inner circles for a while (mostly conspiracy) although this may be the year the planet reveals itself with more solid evidence as we enter 2017, a brand new collective cycle. Pluto still holds a planet designation to many in astrological circles (certainly testament by the powerful punch Pluto packs in aspect and transits!) and uncovering new planets is a continuous part of our evolution.
There is much emphasis on new beginnings and starts to this New Moon in Aquarius as it also equals one in numerology, has strong ties to Mars (Mars in astrology equates to one) and coincides with the Chinese New Year of the Red Monkey, leaving the year of the sheep. According to a reliable Chinese source, the year of the sheep is not favored where they try not to conceive or make big plans. This equates with the sheep and herd mentality we have seen more prevalent lately with more followers than leaders, easily swayed and influenced without a mind of their own. The year of the Monkey is a refreshing change to being less easily swayed with more independent thought, risk taking, inventiveness and thinking out of the box.
Aquarius mission is to upset the apple cart and question anything including authority and raise the bar or finger, slinging some obscenities for shock affect, that errs on the side of being frank “frankly, my dear I don’t give a damn” spoken by Clark Gable, an Aquarius or Don Cherry, another Aquarius known for his unusual and zany fashion statements and sense. This New Moon falls over my father birthday who also has a Uranus Aries return (84) and his name is Frank and that says plenty! Uranus Aries square Pluto Capricorn the last 5 years, has shaken up authority, government and top down autocratic rule of corporations, where Aquarius (Uranus ruled) is the great equalizer with a mind of their own knowing when to call “bullshit” and dismantle robotic machinations of people turned to sheeple.
Aquarius is an intellectual air sign helpful in keeping detached from all the emotional meanderings. The New Moon in Aquarius is always a good time for a mental cleanse to purge negative thoughts and with the hard aspect to Mars, expelling and releasing anger as well. This ability to stay removed gives the inherent freedom to risk and take chances or try something untried due to having less attachment to outcomes and thus frees one to keep open to new opportunities and get off the treadmill and mindset of “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.
Aquarius instills the value of there is no I in team. You scratch my back and I scratch yours with friends lifting each other up, team building, collaboration glad to celebrate each other’s success instead of one sided narcissistic supply. Part of my work as a coach and consultant is in business with strategic management, HR and marketing working with the value of team building. Team work means diversity, difference and the collective merge into more deeper, divergent values, ideas and interests with everyone coming to the table converging and putting heads together adding up to a medley of rich shared power with the common denominator of win win.
As I write about mundane astrology and how the stars show trends, and cycles, during the Aquarius cycle, I am reminded of Aquarius brotherhood today watching a gathering of friends for morning coffee. Aquarius resides over the 11th house of friends, community, social circles and networking seen in a different light with social media where inner and outer circles intermingle with day to day exposure to everyone’s intimate details of their personalities, interests, tastes, preferences where Aquarius open minded tolerance embraces all the colors, as we would be pretty boring if we were all the same. The social media bubble changes the dynamics of social connection with facebook middle name, inyourface social media 24/7 plethora of posts a day airing all dirty laundry and details on moods, opinions, body parts, dinner with 50 ways to interpret your name or 50 shades of your photo and what that means, along with the many personality tests or IQ tests and all the other information on the internet that must be true.
The overall pattern of this New Moon is quite a mixed bag of energy. The planetary line up has now morphed into two talent triangles and two tight squares with a good balance of energies in air, water, fire and earth. Talent triangles are a special blessing of initiative and squares, take charge. When you have a competing pattern of positive and challenging energies, you have the opportunity for much momentum which will probably be a mix of shocking and solid forward motion. The New Moon perfects to a square to Mars in Scorpio. Mars in challenging aspect accents competition, temper tantrums, irritation, selfishness, as well as a warrior, predatory and instinctual spirit.
Venus Mercury Pluto all in Capricorn create a talent triangle with Jupiter Virgo and Mars Scorpio. The line up of Capricorn is adding to serious moods and reflections with deep penetrating, obsessive, intense, manipulation (Pluto) and stirring up passion, desire, romance and a charged sexy vibe (Mars). Venus in Capricorn focus is on enduring bonds with commitment and solidity, that up the ante, expecting high standards. This is a very fortunate pattern for finances (Venus), investments, (Pluto) meaning that those making investments now have an opportunity to take advantage of the lull in the markets as prices are low although Venus Mercury and Pluto are also square Uranus so you have to look at different options, outside the mainstream and tap into futures (Jupiter).
The New Moon in Aquarius falls close to Sarah Palin’s birthday and resembles the energy with her Aquarius Sun over Mars Aquarius which adds much martial energy with a competitive, aggressive, bold, and bouncy character. Her Aquarius Sun Mars is square Neptune which depicts the loopy, off course, confused, incoherent way she has come across.
