New Moon in Leo 2016
New Moon in Leo 2016 “Dear Prudence” The Beatles
The Leo New Moon, ruled by the Sun, is a time every summer to bask in the warmth of the sun and feel the life giving, healing energy the Sun brings, with its high doses of Vitamin D, injecting vitality and a power surge into the veins, bringing forward light to any darkness. The Sun, the element fire connects to the solar plexus and the 3rd chakra, the power center that infuses with strength, will power and purpose.
The New Moon harmonizes with Saturn in Sagittarius building to a trine with Uranus Aries which highlights all the fire signs, giving some needed stability, discipline, stamina and structure to get us through this next month of eclipses, particularly the Solar Eclipse in Virgo Sept 1 after which Saturn square Neptune will begin to separate while Uranus square Pluto continues to separate, and the storms start to calm down. The New Moon also makes a hard aspect to Neptune, which diffuses the solar energy to some extent, seeing some dampening of the solar spirit, with some clouds and rain, recognizing all the sadness in the world.
Leo always helps to open up the heart and it’s an opportune time for some heart to heart connections. When upset or hurt, instead of the usual get angry with spite, seeking revenge, having the courage to open a discussion and have a heart to heart talk or dialogue may help to appease and release negativity. This may not always be the easiest approach especially if it is an unequal relationship such as a boss, however it is still the highest in its honor and dignity of self and other.
The New Moon in Leo gives easy access to a self confidence boost. Toot your horn, feel proud and let your light shine sunny side up, being joyful, all a healthy expression of self love. The selfie has literally changed the face of expression of self love and has become the 21st Century Narcissus as you see the new trend of self photos and everyone’s face pasted to a device. The Greek myth of Narcissus is about Narcissus seeing his image in a pool of water and falling in love with it. Not realizing it was his image, he was heartbroken that the image didn’t reciprocate his love and he died heartbroken.
The need for validation and overcompensating can show someone with a weak ego that needs constant ego stroking, applause and attention, high maintenance that can hinge on neurotic and narcissistic behavior, affecting self esteem, gauging self worth by how much attention one gets. Online dating began this phase with a perceived online candy store and endless supply of a sugar high, albeit an artificial sweetener, faking it with misconceptions very different from what the person presents in real life.
Doing something creative also stokes the Leo fires. Creativity is often thought only for the talented, but creativity is something everyone has access to express. Leo rules over entertainment, games and playfulness, fun in the sun. Pokemon is having many letting out their inner child as a kid with a new toy.
Leo rules over the heart and the spine (upper back) and with it posture, holding your head high and walking tall. You can usually gage someone’s state of mind by their body language, if they are walking tall with head high, smiling or slumped over with a frown (challenged with heads stooped down to devices). Leo mission is to pick one up from the doldrums with their infectious smile to lighten up any mood.
Venus is in Leo and building to a square to Mars this week as Mars dips back into Sagittarius still finishing its retrograde run adding to fireworks, conflict and plenty of sexual chemistry but like fireworks, its lots of bang bang for 20 minutes, over as fast as it begun. When Venus is afflicted in Leo, jealousy, vanity, bruised egos, envy can get pronounced.
