New Moon in Cancer 2013
The New Moon in Cancer 2013 comes on the tail of a mixed blessing with grand trines and tsquares. Mercury plays a strong role in this New Moon being retrograde in Cancer and join the New Moon giving the Cancer New Moon a time to gel and take hold in slow motion concentrating on Cancer initiatives-home, family, emotions and nurturing. Mercury in Cancer goes deeper getting to the root of the issue or cause penetrating through to find effective solutions. Cancer, ruled by the Moon gets past the surface and superficial and grasps the soft underbelly and embraces the warm spot near that place close to the feeling of first being in the womb.
The Solar Sun heart and the Lunar Moon soul fuses the masculine and feminine as they merge into being receptive, allowing and attracting what you want and what you need. Cancer comes at a time of year where slumber and slowing down retreats to process the pressuring pursuits and chasing rainbows.
The New Moon join Mercury retrograde is auspicious in its backing up to create another grand trine to the nodal axis in Scorpio and Chiron Pisces adding to some needed healing and recovery giving us a second chance to right things as Mercury retrograde tends to do. Memories and nostalgia gets stronger, looking at the past and thoughts of yesterday and déjà vu days of past photos, old movies, smells and songs.
Mercury retrograde has the light shining on private information. George Orwell’s novel 1984 regarding Big Brother was one prediction to come true with the birth of computer technology around that time. With Jupiter in Cancer the issue of privacy gets blown up for close viewing and the issue around freedom and what becomes common knowledge.
We can go a step further to the myth of Atlantis, an empire that was destroyed by the power of technology that offered the opportunity for Utopia but instead powers were abused that led to its fall and subsequent sinking, some speculated by a massive tsunami. This brings up all the fears around pressure on the coastlines with the increasing severe weather which is a growing concern with climate change perpetuated by growing technology and industry. The powers that be perpetuate a similar destruction that continues the growing decline to its eco systems and the neglect to Mother Earth seen in the continuing upsurge and threat to home and safety (Cancer) due to increasing floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and tsunamis with the big bad wolf breathing his hot air with “I’ll huff and puff and blow your house down”.
Cancer, one of the cardinal signs has been hit hard under the guns of transit Uranus Pluto the last few years showing much upheaval and edginess hitting the root emotional core with powerful transformations. Anyone born the 1st week of July or having Cancer planets or Moon aspects hit are feeling the raging energy cooking up a storm with a passion with the sparks of a lightning bolt, made more volatile as the Cancer energies built to a tense tsquare with Uranus Pluto this last few weeks with shocks, sudden changes, exciting new plans, anxiety, freak accidents, groups, crowds (Uranus), family feuds and squabbles, bad blood, stomach ailments and spilling your guts emotional release, moodiness (Cancer), arthritis flares, investments (Pluto Capricorn).
The Sun Cancer critical tsquare with Uranus Pluto at the last Quarter Moon during the North American Holidays with Canada and the US birthday celebrations beginning of July centered out the terrorist threat over Canada and the fires in Arizona that proved tragic for many fire fighters taking 19 lives-most very young men in their 20’s. The Cancer born North American countries are a safe haven for other countries. The Uranus Pluto square is impacting both the US and Canada chart (Sun Cancer). Canada has been under attack a few times this year, the last bomb threat was with a VIA train travelling from Toronto to New York. Self radicalism is the term fitting with Uranus (radical) in Aries (self).
Canada’s birthday is July 1 1867 and has a grand trine in water showing its open arms to protect and contain. This grand trine includes Jupiter which shows the overall spiritual protection as well as wide open spaces and open borders with strong immigration. The Sun joins Uranus increasing the humanitarian reach. Saturn is also part of the grand trine showing the disciplined and well structured moderate system. Progressed Uranus is getting hit by transit Uranus and SA Pluto is stress the Cancer stellium. Canada has a Saturn return and Saturn is indicative of boundaries. Saturn in Scorpio shows the intelligence undercover work of the RCMP and its effective interception success.
Several accidents (Uranus) where a few turned fatal (Sun Uranus Pluto) with celebrations and entertainment (Leo), travel (Mercury retrograde) plane crash and a literal train wreck turned explosive during the Balsamic Moon. A Balsamic Moon phase is particularly in the dark during Mercury retrograde and a Cancer Lunar Phase where the Moon is especially hidden and obscure. This presents increased opportunity for error. Fireworks hit a crowd during July 4th celebrations typical of the explosiveness of Uranus Pluto. The tensions also grew to critical explosive levels in Egypt. Egypt has a tense cardinal tsquare with Pluto in Cancer and Chiron in Aries now being activated by the Uranus Pluto transit.
Saturn which naturally rules a cardinal sign (Capricorn) goes direct during the New Moon which will relieve some of the sense of feeling stuck the last few months since it went retrograde in February however Saturn sits at a station the next few weeks so still needs some time to get out of the sludge and sort out the next stage in career, responsibilities and where we need to discipline and moderate ourselves.
Cancer is a cardinal energy which is prominent at this time with Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn. Cardinal signs are enterprising, entrepreneurial and natural leaders who tend to start things which was very ample over the start of the summer season with the heat and the ambitious spirit taking off with all kinds of lemonade stands with children (Venus Leo) showcasing their talents with their creative signage. New and innovative ideas are arising for the food industry with the growth of mobile restaurants (trucks) and unique ways to farm and garden (urban roof gardens).
Venus in Leo brings focus on Leo entertainment and children. I observed some special entertainment with children performing publicly as well as showing their creative ability (Leo). Venus in Leo takes the premise of values and self esteem to showing it off and impressing by strutting your stuff (Leo). Venus in Leo in square to Saturn showed a tragic accident of a Cirque de Soleil acrobat performer fall to her death during an act.
Venus now trines Uranus although soon to square the nodal axis as Mars continues to move in Gemini in a semisquare to Venus in Leo bringing some snags to romance, partnerships, agreements, negotiations and relationships that take a challenging turn as actions are markedly scurried and flustered, adding to rash and rushing energies more emotionally charged in Cancer which isn’t conducive to the message of Mercury retrograde which requires one to slow down to avoid the very pitfalls that Mercury retrograde bring often with an accident waiting to happen. Pacing yourself and paying attention to your movements taking yourself out of auto pilot being conscious of your steps keeps you in line unfettered.
