Full Moon in Cancer December 2012

Full Moon in Cancer December 2012Full Moon in Cancer December 2012

At this time of year as the Sun shifts from the expressive expansive sign of Sagittarius to the somber more serious practical earth based Sun in Capricorn, we face the coldest and darkest days of the year-Saturn represents the harsh reality checks and the reaping of what we sow.  The Sun in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn presses for the most responsible action now with Saturn in mutual reception with Pluto in Capricorn ruled by Saturn. This Full Moon has a special calling bringing the glowing awareness to the Mutual Reception. Saturn rules the status quo and restrictions and Pluto rules over elimination-time to get rid of and destroy that which sits in stagnation and limits progress into a more evolved path-the upside is responsible action and positive return to shared resources and long term investments although we still sit on the precipice of the fiscal cliff-Saturn Scorpio shared investments continuing on the perpetual nose dive-the underside.

Christmas Day the Sun is square to Uranus as Mars moves into Aquarius creating another Mutual Reception adding some erratic eruption and more punch to the bowl and maybe even some Oy to your world or more crunch to your grinch – New Moon in Capricorn 2011.   The Moon in Gemini on Christmas Day adds to a day of lots of chit chat and mental stimulation and perfects the YOD pattern where we may feel more out of sorts than usual.  Mercury is in Sagittarius, in its detriment and further on its own so I suspect there could be some boisterous expression without a lot of forethought saying what’s on your mind with TMI-too much information-mostly a lot being said but not understood. Mercury is over the last New Moon degree-a message loud but not clear –far and away, lost in translation. Venus Sagittarius is also without aspect-Venus Sagittarius seeks adventure and freedom in relationships – more about expansion where intimacy seems far removed.

The Full Moon in Cancer comes following Christmas day on December 28th to an increased activation point as the Cancer Moon picks up on all the pressure points of the YOD.  The law of gravity has it that this Cancer Full Moon, in its ruler, shows the emotional storm around motherhood and family dynamics (Moon Cancer) – the emotional aftermath and grieving for those who suffered the horrific tragedy of losing their young children in the recent school gun shooting.  The Moon’s role that nurtures, consoles and nourishes is twisted into this deranged traumatized Moon of the one that bites the hand that feeds them.   The emotionally tender Cancer Moon ruling over attachment and bonding is ripped from its core and roots, left to feel exposed and raw, with a crushing need to find comfort.

Emotional tugs that pull at the heart strings as we learn that most tragedy and violent outbursts stem from some emotional pain or negligence beaten down that turns hard and callous-Saturn.  The Moon oppose Pluto brings up the deep emotional loss and grief.  The numbness and shock filtered through recent Uranus turning direct in Aries which was sitting at a station for the last few weeks with the strength of the Sun Pluto sextile Saturn to get us through and learn to cope under the blanket of darkness.

The Full Moon follows the New Moon intention in Sagittarius-Jupiter ruled Sagittarius and new laws and legislation with the plethora of gun violence upon the New Moon just as Saturn and Pluto moved into Mutual Reception. The YOD (Finger of God) with Jupiter Gemini(Law) still join Lilith Gemini at the apex also points the finger toward law and changing policy (Saturn Pluto) and the holes in legislation that need addressing.  Gemini is about learning, teaching and questioning how are we educating our children with the age of technology-is it all video games and violence?

The YOD with Jupiter in Gemini at the apex brings up much regarding the principles of duality with Gemini-integrating the male and female-the shadow with the light.  Gemini brings up a splitting where the displacement encourages getting in with touch with a wholeness.  The act of violence comes from the collective shadow side we repress and ignore.  The YOD is a form of sacrifice or a form of service.  Perhaps two sides of the same coin.  Gemini, ruled by Mercury and the mental faculties and all things around mental illness as being brought to light very powerfully.  Apply this YOD to your chart can tell much about your own shifting priorities and the compromises and adjustments especially with any focus on 8 degrees Gemini, Scorpio or Capricorn.

The tragic shooting happened just as Mercury left its shadow square Chiron semisquare a lone Mars in Capricorn.  Venus was also moving to square Neptune-pulling out the Venus square Neptune affliction in the shooter’s natal chart. Both Mars and the Sun were lone wolfs-no aspects with male energy leaves an unsettling fixation on aggressive drive that lacked a channel or outlet which can show the aggression burst out-both the shooting and the recent fire tragedy. Two fixed stars Aldebaran and Facies over Jupiter 9 degrees Gemini and Pluto Capricorn 8 degrees -both unfortunate stars indicative of agitation, war, violence, danger and loss.

In the event chart, Pluto is semisquare the nodal axis which perpetuates a darkness. The Moon, Pluto, Lucifer and Mars all in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) were a cluster in the 12th house of hidden events-no one saw coming.  The school shooter had a very benign chart -a grand trine in Earth and a talent triangle with Mars in Pisces, Uranus Neptune Capricorn and Pluto Scorpio-hardly aspects that speak of violence although his progressions and transits show a different picture.  The path of least resistance is a typical scenario with charts holding those easier aspects.  Often seen in charts of offenders-challenges and difficulties are not managed well as the chart is built for comfort not stress-any threat to homeostatis is met with a forceful contention that often succeeds due to having no block or deterrent.

The shooter’s progressed Sun oppose Pluto was activated by the November Scorpio Solar Eclipse.  Mercury in Aries is rather debilitated with a square to his Moon showing where the mental illness and distortion was under severe pressure trigger happy energy with transit Uranus Aries/Pluto Capricorn and progressed Mars Aries over his Mercury which was what probably made him snap along with the fact he was on anti psychotic medication that was still being tested and not fully approved by the FDA.  This afflicted Moon also points to the difficult maternal bond-and begs the question of why a mentally ill child would be taught target shooting having access to guns.

Mental illness is only escalating during the hard times we are living in.  It is not going to get easier.  There should be plans put in place to manage mental health but it is not something we can grapple in the short term.  Mental health needs to be addressed with better systems in place, no doubt but this is not going to be rectified with immediate remedy.  The processes are too complex and convoluted to reach every case.  Aside from mental illness, many violent attacks are domestic abuse cases, criminal and crimes of passion that have  little to do with mental illness.  Regulating  at this level where someone is seen fit to own a gun yet turns around and has a momentary lapse of reason with access to a gun. The short term easiest way to manage is to keep guns and killing machines out of reach and without easy access.   It really is a no brainer.

Looking at the US chart shines a larger light on the big picture perspective.   The US Sun Cancer square Saturn Libra holding onto any means of security and protection (Cancer) seeing guns as their way to ensure safety– live by the sword and die by the sword where two wrongs do not make a right.  Mars rules over weapons and war and Mars in Gemini in the 7th house is indicative of open enemies-more so the driven need for defensive measures and military reaction.

This all becomes emphasized further with the chart ruler, Jupiter in Cancer stressing freedom – freedom pushing righteous agenda to bear arms to protect and keep safe.  Mars squares Neptune 9th (legal) which shows the stance to defend is clouded in confusing legislation which makes no common sense  into why owning a lethal weapon is legal and put in the hands of any person regardless of their station.

We are leaving the formidable transiting nodal axis over Algol/south node in Taurus with the violence in its wake with many traumatic tragedies this last month-the nurse who committed suicide due to public shaming, Hurricane Sandy, the Sandy Hook school violent shooting.  Algol shows a very sensitive point to the neck and speaking of necks, all those things hard to swallow and stomach such as justification for bearing arms for hunting and defense – not everyone needs to be Elmer Fudd hunting for rabbits.  It’s a sad sad world when we need to live in hyper vigilant perpetual fear with a loss of goodness and grace pushing military brigade gun slinging shooting galleries with every man for himself.  Just don’t mess with me because I have a grenade in my pocket.  And what is it with Sandy-hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook school?

New Year’s eve boasts a night of a party spirit with the Moon in Leo playing with Mars in quirky Aquarius hitting it up with Uranus- a zany exciting night of natural sparkle that could burn into some emotional trauma as the Moon strains the nodal axis.  Communications take on the intuitive presence of a Mercury in calm collected Capricorn in tune to Neptune Pisces subtle clues adding a magical essence to the air.  The Sun aligns with Pluto and Saturn-holding onto serious, responsible and committed intentions.
