New Moon in Aries April 2013

aries New Moon in Aries April 2013 “Constant Craving”

This New Moon in Aries ushers in a time of shifts  upon us again as we saw birth last year with some significant celestial events, including the first hit of Uranus square Pluto, the Venus Occultation and a few very important eclipses with all the 2012 doomsday and Mayan Prophecies.  We are on a spiritual precipice that is taking its steps to elevate us in our evolution.  With this New Moon in Aries we are moving into eclipse season the next few months (April 25th partial Lunar Eclipse and May 9th Solar Eclipse) while Uranus squares Pluto once again end of May.  Pluto is currently slowed to a stationing point ready to turn retrograde April 12th.

The seeds of change and transformation are well on their way. It’s true that the more one meets challenge and faces their fears and accepts their tests, the more one meets their evolutionary development and graduates to the next level.  It’s easy to stay put and hold fast to the familiar and to comfort with the nodal axis/south node (past) in Taurus however with the north node (future) in Scorpio, we are being reminded that change is a constant that we must always be open to move forward and move on.  Although we have our rest stops along the way, we are continually given a nudge to march on from a complacent, stagnant  and static state.

The Sabian Symbol seems ripe for this New Moon in Aries.  “A pugilist entering the ring…as man exhibits full confidence in his own powers …Implicit in the symbolism is a need to be up and at the business of life.  The keyword is exertion.”   Mars Aries is suitably the ram, head first, built to burst forth and plunge forward. Decisions made during this time are deliberate and self centered completely based on the healthy selfish need to take care of the self. To take steps toward your own needs ensures you only draw in those who match and support those needs.

The New Moon in Aries every year is always a time of new beginnings and initiations.  It’s the perfect time to plant your garden for the year ahead and seed those areas you want to grow and tend to throughout the year. Gardening and digging in the dirt of the Pluto square on that last Full Moon was a perfect time to ready your garden for planting at the New Moon which is very auspicious.  The natural planting of seeds is timely during New Moons for the best results.

Aries lives in the present and forges ahead marching on putting one foot in front of the other, leaving the past behind. Fire signs give the motivation and the get up and go. We need Aries strength now to fight our own battles whatever they may be and to come out on top. The acts of courage and bravery confirm a strong identity that goes with being self assured and a rock that stands its ground and is no pushover in the face of any adversity.  Anyone that has a strong ASC or Aries signature is bound to have a robust physical constitution and to be fight off any ailments.

Aries is where we reinvent ourselves and start over, change our identity and create a new face.  The ASC /rising sign is associated with Aries.  The ASC is the facade and is how we present ourselves to the world and how the world sees or perceives us. It’s our inner compass, our navigator giving a sense of direction hence the association with leadership and paving the way. Though we identity with the Sun sign as the true self, the ASC and rising sign is how we feel most comfortable and at home with ourselves.

The main thrust of Aries is taking care of the self and to take back their power when they stand up for themselves with confidence and certainty.  To Aries is to “Know thyself” and the will to live and conquer is strong.  Once one is centered in their own dignity and self respect, their self love would only allow the same love in return and never accept poor treatment from another.   The love you have for yourself is equal to the love you expect and give back. “the love you take is equal to the love you make”.

“Desire, Oh I’m on fire” is an Aries tune.  The love and passion planets Venus and Mars in Aries are perfecting the New Moon.  There is a divine spark with Aries and an innocence in their ability to live in each moment as a new beginning.  It’s always a new day fresh with possibilities as Aries looks ahead. Aries love hard and fast.  Here today and gone tomorrow, hot and heavy quickly fizzling out.  Aries in love makes a grand stand always looking for that adventure and something or someone shiny new to discover. Aries in love likes a challenge and loves with gusto and zest.

The sex drive is ruled by Mars. The virility of Mars is alive and kicking in Aries where Mars rules.  Mars blows hot in Aries and this New Moon is heating up things. It suits that typically spring break runs through this Aries stream every year when everything is waking up again including the libido.  There is something very urgent and raw about the sexual desire pure and simple with the flower that blossoms  attracting the birds and bees flying and buzzing around giving the impetus to mate. There is something or “wildthing” about Aries love, taking us to our base roots in a jungle love King Kong pounding the chest kind of way.

Cravings, appetite and hunger are an Aries domain.  The salivary glands with a need for something to bite  and chew on. It was probably an Aries who quoted: “where’s the beef? Every time (approximately every 2 years) Mars moves into its home, in Aries, I crave red meat which makes sense as Mars rules over primitive survival and meat is the hardiest way to fuel the body.  Protein feeds the muscles which Mars rules over.  Red blood and carnivore appetites with a bite keeping the cannibals and vampires thriving with life blood to sustain life and bring back the vitality.

Aries is a masculine yang sign associated with the color red and the root chakra. The root chakra is the grounding and base core energy arming us with the survival instincts to sustain life.   With the primal drive to survive, Aries have a built in radar to take charge rising above any defeat and to get up and over any hurdle.  Mars, Aries is a physical sign and rules over any type of physical action and sport and body conditioning. The hunt is a Mars activity, a primal instigation that feeds the instinctual urge to stalk your prey.

Giving birth and coming to life is a Mars Aries focus.  That first breath of life is an ASC/1st house indicator with the 1st house associated with Mars and Aries.  The time of birth is indicative of the ASC hence the vitality of the 1st house.   Giving birth, blooming, breaking out of your shell, waking up from the long sleep after winter, the colors blooming,  flowers bright  and grass getting greener and the very vivid feeling of being alive is all a reflection of the life giving essence of Aries.

Mars and Aries rules over protection, arms and the military.  Mars are the heroes with the valiant courage to take dangerous risks to rescue and save lives just trusting instinct to save the day. We see both sides of the coin with police brutality and the military stepping it up in North Korea with threats of nuclear war starting during the last volatile Full Moon.

North Korea’s Kim Jong Un is just before his Saturn return in Scorpio.  This is a maturation point which he hasn’t reached yet. The decisions he is making are not based on sound judgement which usually only starts to develop after the 1st Saturn return.  Kim Jong Un is operating very instinctively, reactive and highly defensive. His natal chart has a Mars Pluto and Venus Uranus signature that is volatile, unpredictable, vindictive and strategically bent on keeping enemies poised with anticipation of the next move.  Its built on a primitive mode of using fear to disable the enemy with intimidation and manipulation, a raw ego bent on showing how scary his big stick is.
