New Moon in Libra October 2013
The New Moon in Libra shows new beginnings in Venus ruled Libra relationships, partnerships, agreements and the stars show this a perfect time to start a new intense relationship. The Libra symbol is the scales and how we continue to balance and find our center. Being relationships encompass a polarity and opposing points, Libra is always weighing both sides to find the middle ground and equilibrium. Relationships of all kinds such as business partners, clients, children, close friends (not just romantic) are impacted and where we often deal with our most pressing karmic scenarios-see my post on relationship astrology and synastry.
Libra falls during autumn, a time for slippers, sweaters, soup and sweets and the Libra sweet tooth. Libra indulgence is in pleasure and finding the sweet spots, with pleasing companionship and open arms to pull close and embrace. Just as Mars ruled Aries is the initiator and the one to take action, Libra is the opposing partner that draws in, attracts, receives, reacts and responds.
Libra gets tagged the sign of projection that mirrors and reflects. Libra is the 7th sign of the zodiac and the half way point across the circle oppose Aries at the starting point gate. Once through the first half of the cycle comes a time of reaching an impasse where it’s about relating to the other as opposed to the self (Aries). The Universe is a mirror where Libra superimposes an internal view. Whatever we disown in our nature, we attract in others hence where attraction become parallel with projection. Relationships are a vehicle to make known those areas of ourselves we avoid or suppress where we vicariously live through another.
In Libra we celebrate the blessings of beauty and finding solace in appealing surroundings. Libra touches up, refines, takes out the rough edges and smooths any harsh points, painting a pretty picture. Libra points to where a new makeover or facelift, design could use some attractive enhancement or attention whether in your career or home, personal or public image.
With Libra’s ruler, Venus as a focal point during the Libra cycle and with Venus, now in Scorpio just separating from a square dance with Mars, a dimension of contention, conflict, combativeness, competition is leaving a trail of disdain and dissatisfaction. When Venus Mars meet in tense aspect, the Mars ego can be bruised by Venus brush off or disregard and bite back with harshness.
Venus in Scorpio is in detriment in Scorpio and hasn’t any supporting aspects now aside from many stressful minor aspects to the New Moon caught up in a dynamic of intensity and hungering for a sense of intimacy that can’t be satiated hanging over Venus head with a feeling of scorn and contempt feeling slighted. Venus is also oppose Algol without a leg to stand on feeling a sense of alienation in a cold dark lonely place creating a ripe opportunity for the Venus Scorpio femme fatale to emerge with a sinister mission.
Mercury is in Scorpio join the nodal axis and Saturn. Communications are serious and focused with deep probing uncovering any obscure information, the perfect investigative private detective aspect . Mercury is a particularly powerful in Scorpio with the connection to Saturn and the nodal axis. Being mindful and mentally disciplined to hone in on your desires, goals will prove successful given the right attention. Mercury just passed the shadow degree where Mercury turns direct November 10th and goes retrograde October 21 (learn more here about Mercury retrograde) and stays in Scorpio until December 4th.
The New Moon in Libra in the cardinal cross has us faced with dynamic new beginnings that start off with a bang with making difficult decisions (Libra), sudden separations, chaos, losing patience (or simply losing it), accidents, significant shifts with the winds of change, walk down new different roads, break in routines (Uranus) and boring sameness into something new (Aries) and powerful deep and transforming events and endings with power struggles (US government shutdown), bullying, a battle of wills, tug of war, rage, abusive behavior, trauma and toxic, dominating circumstances (Pluto) with a strong survive type of theme.
The grand squares that have been clobbering us the last few months since June will leave us alone for a few months with a grand exit rife with a bunch of Thors Hammers which just adds a sense grating irritation, frustration and some bumpy rides and turbulence, forks in the road and departures. A Thors Hammer consists of minor aspects (135 degrees) and semi squares (45 degrees) which are portions of square aspects (90 degrees). Because they are a derivative of major square aspects and considered minor aspects and less direct, the seething irritation is harder to release and is usually contained albeit some internal strife but with an added determination that persists beyond hurdles and resistance.
Fear and anxiety may be more pressing with resentments surfacing once again with some deep emotional purging which can prove very cathartic. Both external and internal affects bound to hit the health, often a target of the energies manifesting in inflammation, swelling and infection (Mars) parasites, reproductive systems (Pluto) growths (Jupiter) ulcers (Cancer), Libra areas physically affected are the lower back and the kidneys, kidney stones, diabetes (Libra sweet tooth). Those born in the early to mid 1970’s experiencing mid life transits are probably finding this particularly hard as it hits their natal Uranus Pluto. This shake up energy is building to Uranus Pluto becoming exact once again hitting a stride up to the Solar Eclipse. It’s a deal breaker time. Uranus Pluto is in the middle of its cycle when most transits reach their peak that will later find a sparring partner as Mars in Libra moves into create the grandest square of all starting in December lasting into the spring of 2014.
