The Full Moon in Gemini December 2013, also known as the Cold Moon, surrounds the yearly buzz of the holiday season. The Full Moon becomes especially vivid as we welcome its illumination and light into the darkest days and longest nights as the shadows cast their opening to repressed and unconscious emotion that a Full Moon brings to light.

The Full Moon in Gemini falls just before the winter solstice this year, with the shortest days giving splendor to the evenings dazzled with holiday sparkle and bright lights to lighten the mood with the touch of Gemini whimsical banter and Sagittarius jovial jestering pumping up the celebrations. The winter solstice is a natural tuning inward to honor the hibernation and revel in the deeper hidden spaces of reflection and listen for those quieter subtle messages.

The Full Moon in Gemini emphasizes the mutable dual nature of Sagittarius and Gemini accentuating the Full Moon polarity as always a pair, opposites or duals,  this or that with the ever present quest of Sagittarius and questions of Gemini to stop or go, here or there, zig or zag or to be naughty or nice.  The Gemini twin personality is given to full illumination and awareness is key where the Jekyll and Hyde shadow side unconscious and unexpressed can turn on oneself into unraveling  the lunatic (luna-moon).

This Full Moon is rather disjointed with scattered forces vying for some relief on a wing and a prayer. The mutable energy is busy in Sagittarius and Gemini with fingers in lots of pies, keeping things in gridlock coming and going, juggling multitudes, splitting at the seams while spinning in circles.   The verve and fire of Sagittarius the seeker that wants take in more breath of vision gets a ready infusion of Gemini curiosity to gain more knowledge and know how with extra jiggle and wiggle room to squeeze more through the funnel.

Mercury rules Gemini and the mind is the focal point of this Full Moon with the gifts of our senses and communication.  The saying “great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people” Eleanor Roosevelt gets us in touch with what we focus our thoughts and minds on and on how well we communicate.   Gemini tunes into the number 3 which is about you, I and us or the trinity of divinity.  It’s no surprise when we talk about the tuning in to see with the 3rd eye or listen with our 3rd ear as an active listener, we are using Mercury gifts to see and hear beyond the senses and understand someone beyond our own perception and lense from a base level to a higher octave and how we interpret or translate information relayed

The three wise men are symbolic as Gemini messengers and for bearing gifts of the senses as they brought the three gifts of frankinsense, myrrh and gold that pointed to properties of  the trinity of divinity being godlike and immortal (frankinsense), mortal (myrrh) and a king (gold).  These highlight the senses which are part of Mercury’s communication network we use to exchange information or share experience.  The senses of seeing, smelling, tasting, feeling, touching and hearing are all part of our way to respond and engage with others or our environment and what level we tune into.

The Gemini Moon is introspective and detached enough from emotion to steer clear of subjective emotional implosion and stay impartial where one is not caught up in the diatribe and drama and has the ability to stand outside of a situation and weigh with reason and logic. Gemini thoughts are things, turned to ideas and schemes.  Mercury ruling Gemini is the catalyst to every thought is a connection to the next and is the precursor for any link in mind body reaction where thoughts are observed with a rational emotional outlook with a factual appreciation.  The Moon in Gemini cools any heady overload and remains objective able to smooth out any ruffled feathers.

Mercury, ruler of the Full Moon is now in Sagittarius, in its detriment accentuating opportunity for communication fumbles, with plenty of static where messages and communications become loud but unclear, muffled with much subjective overtone cutting off the nose to spite the face, where one can’t see beyond their own nose and tunnel vision that gets riled up  jumping to conclusions and biting off more than you can chew.

Mercury in Sagittarius doesn’t mince words and says it like it is.  Communications are blunt, straight up and frank.  An afflicted or weak Mercury tends to like to talk up a storm and hear themselves talk with dialogues taken over by monologues leaving two way exchange and active listening by the side of the road where getting a word in edge wise is overtaken with interruptions.

The upside is Mercury in Sagittarius is refreshing and honest straight from the horse’s mouth in not getting caught up in the details and has a fiery enthusiasm that keeps an open heart despite any mishaps or mangling from flogging a dead horse being too busy trying to get or stay happy and onto bigger and better things.

Venus Capricorn has just entered its station at the degree ready to turn retrograde December 21st.   Whenever a planet begins to station to change direction at a retrograde motion, all the elements of the planet become pronounced and slow down to a halt in this case all Venus based values, money, relationships in Saturn ruled Capricorn with the repercussions, responsibilities, boundaries, commitments and obligations.  Venus Capricorn is the snow queen keeping relations cool, reserved, unflustered and unruffled, in retrograde likened to the calm before the storm .

Mars Libra is building in its cross configuration during the Full Moon to reach some impasse adding to the heightened frenzy and any alarming bells of this lunar cycle.  Mars is energizing with all the activity and movement, over crammed schedules, noise and tempo picking up and with it the tension and ensuing stressful reactions , where the vibration can nose dive into Bad Santa’s nagging tempers flaring where actions really speak louder than words.
