Full Moon in Capricorn 2018
Full Moon in Capricorn 2018 “The Weight” The Band
The Full Moon in Capricorn has a serious, stoic, focus on firm boundaries, responsibilities, obligations and consequence, carrying a heavy load, never dropping the ball. Saturn, ruling the New Moon in Capricorn, now in its home in Capricorn, adds more weight and gravity to the Full Moon in Capricorn, taking its toll, further illuminating and bringing to light unsympathetic attention to Saturn lessons, tests, difficulties, to reap what you sow, paying some kind of price with a harsh cost. The Full Moon in Capricorn joins Saturn in Capricorn bringing home a sense of somber reckoning and stark realization of the reality of the cause and effect, needing to be clear about where the line is drawn with emotional walls to unstable demanding calls.
The Full Moon in Capricorn (Sun Cancer oppose Moon Capricorn) is the protective axis between (Maternal/Cancer/care taking/ nourishing/ nurturing/inner world /private) and (Paternal/Capricorn/recognition, acknowledgement/outer world/public). The Cancer/Capricorn polarity draws out the opposite pole between emotional sensitivity and a stiff upper lip, putting on a public front to cover a private, emotional undercurrent. The polarity points to keeping a healthy balance between being strong and soft, accepting support to help carry the heavy load, with someone else picking up the ball while filling an empty cup with open vulnerability and nourishment.
The combination of Capricorn strength and Cancer vulnerability, is sometimes needing to be cold to deflect and protect and sometimes giving warmth to sooth from neglect, all in the right measure. The balance can be seen in extremes with overcompensating to fill missing parts with distancing, coldness to over caring, enabling and co-dependence, either with a constant neediness to replenish a sense of abandonment or lack of acknowledgment by incessant hunger and thirst for attention, never feeling fulfilled to denying all feeling and needs hiding behind a hard, bitter, numb veneer.
The Sabian Symbols are quite fitting for this Full Moon Capricorn, really capturing the essence and message.
“Two fairies on a moonlit night. This is a symbol of nature’s illimitable potentialities on the side of the release she offers man from his physical or psychological involvement, and of the necessity that he achieve some measure of lightness as a balance for the strain of everyday existence. …the magic of self hood lies in its ability to rise above whatever may threaten its well being…”
“A veiled prophet of power. This is a symbol of nature’s illimitable potentialities on the side of her readiness to meet the physic al and psychological demands of man, and of the necessity that he exercise his mastery of natural forces as a basis for his self assurance in meeting everyday strain and turmoil…”
Mercury in Cancer is building to square Uranus Taurus which will make a case for emotional expression that takes on a new twist. Buried, pushed down, neglected emotions, are festering and surfacing in shocking ways, needing to be named. Emotions not addressed, repressed, denied often grow in the body, needing an outlet of expression and emotional support after coming out of a long numb void needing to accept and feel a sense of belonging, nurturing and caring. Health issues may be related to depression, feeling stuck, trapped, overwhelmed, unsupported.
Mars is retrograde in Aquarius on the south node moving toward eclipse season in July (Partial Solar Eclipse July 12th and Lunar Eclipse July 27th). These eclipses are hard pressed with the backup energy of Mars retrograde, where energies are in slow motion running ragged, depleted, stunted, held back, running on empty, taking a time out to revisit, review, wait and see, retracing steps for a reset.
