Leo Full Moon February 2012

Leo Full Moon Feb 2012The Full Moon was swelling last night as it began its potent waxing to its fullness Feb 7th.  Essentially a Full Moon is at its peak momentum in its waxing (building to fullness) where once full it already is losing its pull where it lapses into effect.  This Leo Full Moon is in Aquarius combust Mercury–both Sun and Mercury at 18 degrees with the Moon at 18 degrees Leo.

Leo rules performance and entertainment-a fitting time to put on your show.  For me it meant listening to a powerful speaker who gave a fabulous presentation with twitterlating, hilarious stories on HootSuite ( a social media dashboard)-in Leo lingo-I was impressed!  Its fitting with a sun glazed day of the Full Moon-Leo in its glory.  Its semisquare Uranus adding a pinch of excitement, unpredictable turns and sudden change and perhaps a tinge of anxiety.  Mercury is the planet of communication so you can be sure communication matters will be strong in the next few days.  Busy buzzing messages and social media (Aquarius) is all a flutter.  Saturn is just turning retrograde, stationing on an anaretic degree-last degree of the sign.  This is a critical point which makes Saturn issues of rules, ambition, careers, authority, parenting, discipline, limits, restrictions and responsibility that much more stringent and rigid.  Saturn is the natural ruler of Capricorn and brings up matters to do with strictness, testing and stern measures. Here we may feel the heaviness and pull back in these matters. Wherever Saturn resides in your chart will show the crystallizing influence of Saturn as it moves retrograde until June 2012 where it will move direct again.  I see Saturn’s influence as a time to polish your shiny diamond.

Neptune, which just moved into Pisces, is connected to all that is about love, creativity, romance and the arts. This is a significant shift as Neptune is the natural ruler of Pisces and will reside in Pisces until 2026.  Neptune was just moving  into Pisces when Neptune was discovered in 1846 although Neptune was observed by Galileo in the early 1600’s.  Neptune’s association with soul mates and the merging of souls in love and romance is going to stir much creative growth in the coming years in the arts with film, art, music,  poetry and all things encompassing compassion, tenderness, unselfishness, devotion, imagination, inspiration and surrender.  Neptune holds no bounds and has an open portal for visionary reach.

Venus (natural ruler of love) has been in Pisces the last few weeks which has added to the air of romance with soft, passive, gentle attention and is just edging to move into Aries (Feb 8th) and will join Uranus in Aries for a few days which will add a zany off the wall tint to romance, love and relationships this week with a noticeable picking up of the pace-on the loose.  Venus is in detriment in Aries as Aries is ruled by Mars, the God of war. Venus in Aries is impetuous, impatient and often seen as one to rush in and out of romance.  Venus Aries is no damsel in distress and doesn’t hold any punches.  Venus Aries goes after what she wants, not the typical Venus who is meant to magnetize and attract.  Venus Aries has no time or patience for being the lady in waiting.

Aries is typical of Spring-early this year as the birds are chirping fervently the beginning of February-the mating calls of Aries Venus is fiery, fierce and a fighter, competitive and driven albeit with innocent and pure intent.  Aries is not one to brood or second guess.  Venus Aries likes adventure and fun, excitement, is passionate and  action oriented and likes the chase and is open to daring risks.  Aries is the hunter/huntress and rules the color red-of course red for Valentine’s Day.  With us in the year of the Dragon-wearing red should amplify our intentions and desires over the next month while Venus moves through Aries.  Many will be on the hunt in the next few weeks whether for love or work or for that next project or goal.  If you want a good sales person (hunter) or someone to get things started, get someone with some Aries under their belt and in their arsenal.

Leading up to Valentines February 14th,  the Sun will be building to harmonize with Saturn where responsible and committed intentions with some of the somber reality checks around love may come to bite some in the butt.  Saturn represents longevity and serious obligations and with Saturn in Libra (Libra ruling relationships) we may see many engagements this Valentines.  Mars is also retrograde in Virgo and being Mars is the planet of desire and sexuality, Mars Virgo retrograde may have much discussion around the details of sex and getting it just right, literally finding that sweet spot.  It may also just mean ones libido may be lagging, halted and subdued or hastened (“not tonight dear, I have a headache” )-Mars (headache) Virgo retrograde or being Virgo rules duty-the sexual act may just be about doing your daily, weekly or yearly duty…

I have read many discussions lately on asexuality, anorgasmia (inability to orgasm) celibacy and virginity-Virgo traits.  Virgo rules communication and precision-sex talk is a big turn on for adding the fuel to building up to what’s coming, adding the fun to finding all the joy in trying all positions.  Or we can laugh at the absurd rules and control around sexuality.  Oh and speaking about animals (Virgo)-again the dogs were let out-unleashed onto my cat.  My cat was innocently out soaking up the sun this morning (fitting for the Leo Moon) and a dog escaped (Neptune) off leash and gave my cat another run for his life-that was my little sudden Uranus surprise this AM just as the Moon reaches its fullness. The chase is on! And fitting for the nodal axis still moving through Sagittarius (law)-throwing in some legal satire sprinkled with religious (dog)ma is always fun.

Valentine’s Day starts with the Moon in Scorpio strain the Sun in Aquarius ( a Quarter Moon)-an action oriented Moon which will also be stressing Neptune and Mercury as it moves into Sagittarius in the evening  adding deep emotional intensity as well as some confusing gestures and communication (Neptune) or uncertainty/escapism/sacrifice (secret romances) as well as indulgence (Sagittarius)  around our love life or a longing and desire for fusion and oneness.   The Moon will strain Chiron which may bring up some emotional wounding and heartbreak activating the heart chakra and opening to healing-rose quartz crystals will help to soothe the pain.  Neptune infuses with magic and dreaminess as well as forgiveness.  The evening mood should be sweet and gentle with Mercury and Neptune in Pisces with the warmth of the Sagittarius Moon and Venus Aries heat although Venus will be edging to square Pluto which will bring some explosive smoldering passion and sexual fireworks.
