New Moon in Aries “Barracuda” Heart
The New Moon in Aries is finding some direction once again with an inner compass showing the way, getting things in motion. The New Moon in Aries is a real switch from the last New Moon Solar Eclipse in Pisces, with Pisces water logged, floating willy nilly head in the clouds to Aries fire, commanding attention, taking action and moving forward, hitting the ground running, on to the next adventure with courage, conviction and a strong will, drive and independent spirit (watched Moby-Dick, in the story the hunt of the white whale was during a New Moon in April.) Venus moves into Aries, adding to the relief of retrieving passion and getting grounded. Those with mid sign fire or Aries placements will feel the recharge to their batteries. Rituals with grounding, the root chakra and getting rooted with anything hot and red (red clothes, stones such as blood stone, garnets, red colors, red flowers (first red rose bloom), fire, candles, a good hardy meal (red meat if not vegan or red sauce, spicy) are all grounding and warming.
The New Moon in Aries is in a bit of a bind as all the get up and go of Aries is stifled with Mars in Sagittarius, ruler of the New Moon, in station and soon to go retrograde (mid April). This isn’t a pleasant energy and comes out as a bit of a swirl and twirl with all the energy riveting to move, but being held back with Mars in stand still. This is Mars in aggravation mode, needing an outlet, the nearest target or a punching bag to alleviate the pressure, to vent and drop their anger anchor. Mars on standby sees more flare ups, bruising, injuries, muscle aches, headaches and angry outbursts (Mars Sagittarius righteous anger, blunt, rude, acting before thinking).
The New Moon joins Uranus and square Pluto, adding a sense of obsession (Pluto) and madness (Uranus). This increases sudden surprising and shocking events and things blowing up in your face although the New Moon has a supporting trine to Saturn Sagittarius which helps to mitigate and moderate any major calamity, and put the brakes on any overkill. During hard Pluto aspects, cases about abuse, betrayal, sexual assaults, bullying (cyber), online trolls seem more prevalent.
The New Moon join Uranus instigates the black sheep phenomena. Uranus doesn’t follow the crowd, conform or care what the Joneses are doing or what’s popular. To Uranus there is no definitive “normal” as normal to you is not normal to someone else. Uranus doesn’t lead or follow but does what they want which can be pegged as you aren’t part of the group, don’t fit in, so you are cast out as a scapegoat due to being different, foreign, odd, weird or not weird enough!, not conforming to peer pressure, social rules, open to being mobbed and bullied.
Uranus can’t be influenced, dominated or controlled. They become the lone wolf that needs to get some separation and distance. Don’t fence me in, keep your distance and give me space which in turn cultivates a feeling of missing someone and not taking them for granted. Independence is necessary to keep in touch with the self and not lose the self as many do when in a relationship. Emotional closeness or constant contact is not comfortable with Uranus and why relationships on the internet appeal to many with Uranus strong in their chart as it gives that needed distance.
The New Moon square Pluto is accentuating willful, ambitious, intense and strong emotion and desire to transform but because it is a square, there is a block to the ego (Sun) and power (Pluto) which can ignite much regarding power struggles that has to fight with a might to make things right and stand up for the self. It has much power and drive at its disposal and can get caught up in domination, bullying or abuse. Because of the square, it can get distorted in its expression and spill out in rage. If the energy is not put to some good use or channeled appropriately, it will get projected and usually not in a nice way. Use it or lose it, literally!
Due to its extensive energy, Sun square Pluto is a great aspect to have to deal with crisis and emergencies. It is a strong survivor aspect with killer instinct for a warrior battlefield with a kill or be killed, love hate, dominate or be dominated, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. The sexual assault case of Jian Ghomeshi really centered on this energy pattern as he has Sun square Pluto which he channeled into BDSM sexual interests that blew up in his face. On the other side of the coin, Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister has Sun square Pluto, and is an example of someone using the positive side of this energy. Sun square Pluto is one of those aspects that either brings out the worst or the best in others that can be one’s own worst enemy or make vehement powerful enemies.
Jupiter Saturn and Neptune are still moving in a tsquare although in separation coming out of the woods of the Pisces stellium of skittish, scattered going this way and that, gone missing, getting lost with a continued sense of everyone vying for a space and place to cope with all the continuing, conflicting shifting tides and tense energies (expand/grow-Jupiter), (delay, limit, restrict, stuck, melancholy-Saturn) (confused, disoriented, sleep issues-Neptune). I am seeing more issues with autism, bipolar disorder, depression, feeling worn out and old and more suicide with this energy as coping mechanisms seem to be getting hard to come by.
Thankfully a break is on the way with the next New Moon cycle offering up some relaxation and respite, so take the time to take advantage of Saturn and Mars retrograde, albeit frustrating as Saturn (cold) and Mars (hot) are in fire which doesn’t like to retreat, cool or slow down. Turn inward, reassess goals and ambitions that aren’t ready to charge full thrust forward and trust some back peddling for the next few months has a bigger purpose.
Mars is very powerful in Trump’s chart as it sits over his ASC. This very angular Mars over his ASC is pumped up as the ASC is naturally associated with Aries, Mars and thus natural leadership, drive, aggression, assertion. Trump further embodies the US Mars and thus, anger with his Sun Uranus node axis over the US Mars in Gemini literally drawing out the US collective anger, angst (Mars).
