Full Moon in Leo 2014

Full Moon in Leo 2014 “Be Still My Beating Heart” Sting

The Full Moon in Leo falls on Valentine Day, celebrating love and the heart as Leo, ruled by the Sun, rules over the heart.  Leo is at the seat of our heart’s desire as romantic love hearts race with a rush of fluttering butterflies, dizzy spells lured by a spell of infatuation.  Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love and whatever gives you that elated high or rush whether through a kiss, taking a run, going to a party, eating some chocolate or getting embroiled in a creative passion.  With Leo being a fire sign, the ritual for the Leo Moon is to light a fire and raise your arms opening to embrace and receive love.   Light candles, a fire and surround and immerse yourself with what tickles your fancy and makes you “feel the love”.

With all the retrogrades in the Venus (love) Mars (desire) sky as Venus Mars continue in a tense square, this Valentine’s Day has its day and way to get into the love groove game where we can anticipate and prove true that all is fair in love (Venus) and war (Mars). Cupid (Eros), son of Venus is currently in Sagittarius with his ready arrow pointing at hearts with a love potion ready to release a fervent fever of frenzied frolics of desire.

The Leo Moon shines in performance and playing the game, being in the spotlight, up on stage that’s entertainment with all the romantic movies getting us caught up and love struck again in the game of love and the sweet promise of love.  Leo resides over the 5th house of love affairs, romance, dating, fun, flirting, playtime, children, creativity, gambling, speculation and taking risks.  The inner child and the innocence helps us to skip along and keep smiling, expressing the fullness of our heart where every child or inner child deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated as someone special.

The axis of Aquarius Sun (ruled by Uranus) and the sunny Leo Moon (ruled by the Sun) brings out the pull between detachment and fusion in a whirlwind dance number full of sparkle and swing.  Social Aquarius and creative Leo make a dazzling duo.  Aquarius, with the avant-garde inklings that leaves open doors eager for keeping things interesting merging with dramatic Leo come together with sparks flying  to take you on an exciting ride.

The Full Moon in Leo forms a square to Saturn and semisquares the cardinal crunch with tsquares ripe for storms and weather action with a hand full of Thors Hammers (god fists) turning any love elixir a bit sour so it’s pick your poison or turn your poison into your passion.  An afflicted Sun or Moon with hard Saturn aspects tend to harden the heart and block the flow of love with a sardonic, discouraging tone that quells emotional overload with strict stringent bite the bullet standards.   Saturn’s pinch to the Leo Full Moon with the bitter cold hard reality reveals wounds with the ego and can stir up the proverbial cry baby.

Saturn hard energy on the whipping post spurs and instigates making effort and plenty of opportunity in the pursuit of excellence to up the ante for accomplishment deserving of accolade and merit.   The Full Moon wedges with Mars giving the boost of drive and daring force, reving up the competitive spirit for the Sochi Olympic games.

Mercury retrograde in Aquarius is over the Full Moon adding to the weather and travel issues as well as the  “should I stay or should I go” do-se-do with pulls to the past, one step forward two steps back.  Mars Libra is also stationing to go retrograde moving slow concentrating energies.  Even though Mars has a bit of hiatus with some reprieve from the cardinal cross it will hit up again in April during the Lunar Eclipse.  When you start to back up Mars energy, seething back biting, harboring and holding grudges, conflicts and anger from the past also emerge.   Mars Libra puts on a good front but can also twist a knife in your back.

Jupiter Pluto continues with the go big or go home, go public (Capricorn) or keep private (Cancer), in the closet, close to your heart and a safe hidden harbor from public view or knowledge.   Whether you support someone or endorse them publicly (Capricorn) or keep it behind private closed doors (Cancer) there is a paradox that anything you wish to remain private or should remain private (airing dirty laundry) has the easy foray to become public knowledge and anything important or relevant you want public gets lost in the shuffle.

Uranus square Pluto continues where the unusual and unconventional in inventive Uranus Aries may not wash well with conservative, adhere with traditional values for a superficial public face and reputation Pluto Capricorn.  Uranus opens boundaries and looks at inclusiveness which is tested with Pluto Capricorn status quo and rules with the thought of what lurks below or underneath the facade and  what unruly hides behind closed doors.

Jupiter square Uranus tightens up  during the Full Moon where the horse (Chinese New Year) sense (good judgement ) is getting a run for its money with Jupiter  entangled in these  wrangling aspects with a need to pull in the reigns further pushing to fight corruption, obstruction of justice and abuse of power.  With Jupiter in Cancer (Cancer ruling over the breasts) you see the controversy arising regarding breast cancer and the use of mammograms.   With Jupiter ruling excess and  Uranus anxiety, sudden turns of events  and shocking circumstances will arise egging us on to overcome any adversity or misfortune.

The nodal axis is beginning to shift, changing tune as it moves from Scorpio/Taurus to Libra /Aries as we head into Libra/Aries eclipse season which will be ramped up in a climactic turn with the cardinal cross the next two years as Uranus square Pluto begins to finally separate.  Libra represents balance and fairness and finding a place to keep centered through the chaos.

The Full Moon in Leo shows up with significant endings in the entertainment world as Jay Leno makes his exit from the Tonight show as well as the loss of child star, Shirley Temple, known for her cute cupid charm.  The Leo Full Moon falls over Jay’s ASC in Aquarius where he showed his unique and quirky humor with an infectious charisma that makes him very likeable.  Shirley is the classic Sagittarius rising with her fiery exuberant chart ruler Jupiter in Aries in the 5th house of entertainment (natural house of Leo) all in a grand trine to Neptune in Leo.

Philip Seymour Hoffman RIP.  I really enjoy his acting and had ironically watched almost 5 films of his in the last few months.  Philip had the bravado of a Leo Sun, epitomizing and capturing the natural dramatic in his entertainment with his acting in all the world’s a stage no doubt reliving and revealing his own personal torment in his character roles.  Philip had some very difficult configurations particularly his Sun in Leo square Mars Scorpio on the south node axis.  Sun square Mars, while showing much ambition and grit, can be its own worst enemy, fated to self undoing with the south node on Mars.

The extensive retrogrades bring up his relapse where he picked up again on an addiction that he had in his early years over 20 years ago.   The transits particularly point to his Mercury square Saturn as the cardinal cross stressed his Mercury Saturn showing the back lash with depression.  Transit Saturn was also over his Neptune (addiction) stressing his Moon.  Saturn transits take a heavy toll which find the allure of any relief harder to bypass.  Heroin is a tough act to quit and seeming to becoming a more prevalent pedestrian drug of choice due to ease of access while being dangerously lethal, marring the brain taking it on the slippery slope with the ever present slave to the urge for the pleasure injection that becomes very difficult to substitute in everyday living.

Amanda Knox case from the past comes to a significant turning point.  Amanda Knox’s legal battle (Jupiter) epitomizes the fight in front of her that the cardinal cross portends.   Her progressed Lunar return is a major passage focusing on her Sagittarius Moon, ruled by Jupiter in Aries which is highlighted in the eclipses in April.  Jupiter oppose Pluto  and Jupiter square Uranus, in the cardinal cross shows the chaos and unsettled legal status (Jupiter) as Jupiter begins to station to turn direct.

Love your articles and look forward to them. I was wondering if you can make any predictions on Amanda Knox’s ultimate ending with this legal battle? Thanks.

    • Yes, its a precarious time. Amanda still has some challenge to her Cancer Sun which rules her home however she has much support to her 9th house (legal) now so I believe she will not be extradited and even if she is it will take years. Chiron is also stressing her Saturn (legal) which shows the wound to her justice. Her Venus does have support from transit Neptune in Pisces this year as well. The cardinal cross with Jupiter (legal) is posing this last challenge to be more collective and political but I don’t see it going much further. The real scary part is the real killer, Rudy is eligible for day release.
