Venus Leo Retrograde “Killer Queen” Queen

Venus entered Leo June 6 2015 and will be in Leo for an extended stay until October 9 2015, due to the retrograde phase where Venus turns retrograde July 25th and turns direct Sept 6th with the extension of time into October, out of the shadow phase as well as out of Leo. The New Moon in Leo August 14 joins Venus Leo in an Inferior Conjunction, a special phase in the cycle,  with Mars Leo tagging behind just as Jupiter leaves Leo.

All the while when Venus sits at its retrograde turn around, it is making a somber square to Saturn, and all the merrymaking and fun, gets a serious, let’s get real time out, putting on some brakes to any unwanted affections, some karmic turnarounds wet blanket for a couple of weeks as Venus backs off. Venus dips back into happy days again mid August during the New Moon in Leo and into September as Venus turns direct September 6th.  Venus joins up with Mars Leo end of August to finish off the summer with some more wild Venus trine Uranus excitement. Venus Leo completes its cycle with a last square to Saturn in October which indicates this Venus retrograde carries Saturn lessons and tolls to bear.

As with any retrograde phase, starting any new Venus activity during a Venus retrograde may not be the best timing. It is more a time of revisiting and reshaping. Any activity around Venus such as relationships, partnerships, agreements, finances, possessions, self worth, and in Leo, love affairs, children, luck, gambling, entertainment, performance, will be top of mind, seeing rehashing, reversals and re-evaluation. Anything in these matters may bring up past connections and agreements to resort with events on the skids. Old relationships, lovers from the past may pop in again, reunions, old dramas brought back to life only to be put to rest again.

It’s no surprise that Venus rules over relationships, balance and keeping poised between poles. Venus in Leo accentuates and emphasizes the heart and the heart chakra. With Venus Leo , the heart is open and Venus in Leo will find the sunny spot in the shadows. Venus in Leo celebrates relationships and gives a time to honor all relationships and their dynamics, differences and that we always take a piece of every relationship with us that becomes part of us somehow.

With Venus Leo in the retrograde motion, a change of heart and turn around may stir up heart pangs. The heart is the central station and life force which pumps out blood to all areas of our body. The heart infected can create great havoc with the health (heart failure, heart attacks) due to the chakra being imbalanced and the flow being hampered. Venus Leo isn’t understated and in aspect to Uranus, unconventional and rebellious, and not abiding by your typical standards, expanding the perception of beauty taking out the 12 year old anorexic models on magazines and replacing with beauty in all forms whether of the mature, wrinkled, voluptuous, curvaceous, imperfect kind of beauty instilling the sense that beauty is really in the eyes of the beholder.

Venus Leo goes all out in the pursuit of passion with a wowing look at me presence, dazzling with a shining and primping, with grand gestures, wine and roses, speaking and doing anything straight from the heart, although join Jupiter Leo and mixing with Uranus Aries, can go off the rails with drama and overkill, overspending, indulgence, attention seeking, lavish, gaudy, too much of a big thing if left unchecked. Venus in Leo is no princess, but the queen, Leo lion hear me roar while holding head high, walking tall, prancing in with a grand, proud regal entrance. Venus Leo, is a fire sign, burning hot and breathing fire, unafflicted,  keeps a benevolent, pleasant poise. With an afflicted Venus Leo, pride cometh before the fall and vanity can get a Leo into a corner with a bruised ego. Leo is a fixed sign, so stubborn, no budging can also get situations into a stand off.

Venus takes a more serious turn as it makes its retrograde switch July 25th over the first critical degree of Virgo and over fixed star Regulus, for a few short weeks before moving back again into Leo square Saturn. Because Venus is stress/square Saturn during this retrograde, a bitter sweet will set things straight with any Leo vanity, with wounded pride, heart break, closing and constricting the heart, stage fright, as Saturn rains on Venus parade.

Any relationship commitment talks or taking things to the next level may see some reversals, cold feet, running for the hills and backing out of any obligation. Finances may see more frugal means with cost benefits measuring. Issues around children, problem child, child custody (Leo) and my pet peeve of watching parents let their children tag behind vulnerable to busy cross street traffic etc. or parents more interested in their smart phone then their children’s well being.

Venus Square Saturn is the classic of you get what you give and with Venus square Saturn, love, affection and attention is curtailed and cooled off delayed and denied so the more you hold back the more is held back from you and visa versa. Venus Saturn is also the hard loving, taking on a project and expecting love to hurt so perpetuating unrequited love and love for those unavailable. Cold, dry, brittle conditions can also get more serious as seen in drought issues lately. Austerity and challenging agreements, especially with finances (Greece) is another feature of this cycle.

As a natal signature, those with Venus square Saturn or Venus in hard aspect to Saturn often have felt the original denial of love from an authority or parent, father (Saturn) that perpetuates a vicious cycle of hard feelings, mistrust, rejection, lack of self esteem turned to isolation or keeping love at arm’s length or over compensating with getting into complicated, difficult love entanglements. The gift of Venus Saturn is to love oneself enough to know when to draw the line and get a dose of Saturn push back, reality check with healthy boundaries, getting out of the codependency trap, knowing who to let in and who to let go. Look to the summer of 2007 as Venus made a similar retrograde in Leo/Virgo as it joined Saturn Leo.

Venus at its turning point moves into Virgo and sits over fixed star Regulus, a very fortunate encounter as Regulus is known as one of the most powerful and beneficial fixed stars, indicative of royalty, prominence, leadership and honor. Venus in Virgo adds the humility and refinement of Venus Virgo, with less ego centric attention and more simple pure unadulterated service although Venus is in its fall in Virgo and loses some of its natural charm with the tendency of Venus Virgo to be more critical and preoccupied with analyzing the details.

Fixed Star Regulus was in Leo (named the heart of the Lion) for many centuries and just moved over into the first degree of Virgo in the last few years. This changing sign scenario over the retrograde cycle highlights the Leo Virgo transition point through this Venus retrograde cycle with a special key note on Regulus. Regulus during its Leo sojourn was known to lose its power and positive force with the act of revenge, while it had free reign to lord it over others expecting to be treated like royalty with preferential treatment with class systems more pronounced and segregated as loyal servants, lowly underlings or those low born bow to a pretentious, pompous high and mighty, at a beck and call.

Venus will mean different things to everyone due to what area Venus rules and resides in your chart and the nature of Venus in current transits and progressions. Venus may rule the 4th house so family may be an issue to revisit, or if Venus is in your 6th house, work, pets, health may be a focus or with Venus in the 3rd house like me, continuous communication, computer snags. Venus making hits to places in your chart will make this retrograde much more personal however, even if it’s not hitting up personally, you most likely will experience its effects by someone in your circle impacted.

Anyone with Leo personal planets or other air fire planets especially mid Leo, Aries, Sagittarius, (Sun Moon Mercury Venus Mars Venus ) will feel extra special and warm throughout the summer into late September. The last degree of Leo posed in their chart will probably feel this sense of humbling or humility. It points to the adage of what goes around comes around and enacting or plotting any activity around revenge is putting yourself back in the cycle instead of letting it take care of itself. Soon enough, the Universe will show some type of return of what was done, that will in some way be seen, felt or heard by the perpetrator in kind.
