Full Moon August 2011

Summer Moonlight The Full Moon August 2011 ranked up to a ball busting nasty Thors Hammer and in astrology terms this angle and energy is hard nosed, edgy and gritty.  It is the kind of energy that is irksome and annoying, more pesky than full on critical.  It’s a no let up, in your face, punchy and pestering frustration and irritation that makes for much aggravating and pressuring panic which we do not need now.

In the last few weeks as a build up from the Leo New Moon on July 30, there is more escalating mania with the London riots,  the mayhem in the Syrian streets with the continuous seething and raging in the Arab world as well as the pressure that mounted due to the global economic panic left on shaky ground because of the US default threat.  Now we have the resultant lack of faith in the future stability of our global economy with the consequence of the downgrade of the US credit rating as a further cramp to our sense of moving forward to repair the economic frey we have been caught up in the last few years. Any hope we had for some headway from the recession is now turned to fear of being thrown back in once again as everything remains stalled and paralyzed with the insecure sense of the times ahead to grapple  in the global market financially.

It’s no doubt the bailouts and extremes in the financial swings have catapulted the US funds to the dire dry up.  We have looked to the US as our beacon and leader in the global financial world which leaves us feeling the uncertain anxiety around our financial future and whether the US will continue as a global leader.  Actually in astrological terms, with the first close square between Uranus and Pluto (Pluto ruling debt) its no surprise the upheaval, chaos and turbulence in the current global economy.

With transit Mars now in Cancer creating a grand square, the antagonism around the current dilemma has emotionally spread like wild fire fitting for the Mars grand square in Cancer (Mars fire) Cancer (emotions and security) globally which is our worst fear when we are talking about economic stability as emotions run the money markets more than anything.  Mars will continue to snarl with a square to Saturn and a semi square to Sun Venus until the end of August which will add to the tight stringent plans and needed restraints, set backs and the frustrating denials.  With Mercury also in retrograde oppose Neptune, the confusion and questionable future economy looms ever more unreliable.

The US chart shows clearly the reckoning with a Saturn return strain the US Sun in Cancer.  Saturn rules consequence and discipline and in Libra its about social responsibility and looking out for the balance of the scales.  Money wasting and extensive debt and borrowing has come to stand still.  Cuts and budgetary controls and tightening the belt are Saturn’s domain as well.   Cooperation, also a Libra principle is critical now for a balancing act.

The capitalistic system is certainly coming to a halt getting a run for its money as the gap between the rich who get richer and the poor who get poorer, a teeter totter of the have and the have nots which is a system that’s losing its ground and doesn’t make economic sense.  As Warren Buffet, one of the world’s  richest men stated recently in the New York times, its “time for shared sacrifice”  of those mega  rich who get extensive tax breaks.   Somalia and the devastating famine is testament to how the scales need balancing.   The problem as stated by Robert Zoellick of the World Bank is not economics but politics.

Fitting for Leo though, we long for some cheerful and happy news with a relief from the constant turmoil we experienced the last few years, let alone the last few months.  After the Full Moon wanes, Venus begins to join with the Sun and Mercury and by the end of week, Thursday August 18, we will have a fulfilling grand trine in fire with the Moon in Aries trine the Leo Sun Venus Mercury stellium trine the nodal axis.  This is a very auspicious and warming energy surrounding relationships, peace, harmony and reconciliation. If there were any bad effects from the previous Moons and in the last few months, this is an opportunity to have some respite and positive results. With investors hoping for a calming to the panic in the markets and struggle to maintain the confidence in major economies, this next week is a fortuitous time. It’s a joyful presence with Leo in full harmony alongside Venus which should beautify any event, place or thought.  Venus rules money and spending so perhaps some faith and hope may boost some spending and create a ripple effect of smoother waters and return to recovery mode.

This time of year I am never ill and feel at my optimum level which I am sure most do.  The more time I spend outside in the Sun’s rays, the more alive I feel.  There is something very healing and powerful about the Sun.  We can’t deny how rich the energy affects us at a cellular level.  Not only do I spend quite a bit of time in the Sun but am very active which certainly contributes to a great state of mind and body.   The life giving energy of the Leo Sun, the warmth and charging rays of the summer heat turned into vibrant vitality are the perfect remedy for the sorry state of the world around us.  The Sun is our center of the Universe and solar system where everything revolves around.  The psychological and emotional impact does give an impetus for keeping things moving and growing.  It’s not a time of stagnation. It’s a time of creativity and spirit, passion and heartfelt love.

The Sun and Leo rule the heart and our center.  A certain type of music seems to be suited to this time of year-the warm passionate latin sound of Santana or the soulful sounds of Jeff Beck and his deeply profound instrumental guitar stringing while languishing and soaking up the sun’s rays.   It’s child’s play time, fun in the sun full of laughter and running about merrily at bliss.  Maybe we can take the child’s lead and at least for a time let the weariness of the world take a back seat as we revel in some  innocent joy and pleasure while we conjure and visualize creative ways to make our future a brighter place.
