New Moon in Aquarius 2015

New Moon in Aquarius 2015 “Walk this Way” Aerosmith

The New Moon in Aquarius embraces humanistic and collective principles enforcing the age of Aquarius need to come together, unite and live with differences as the world continues to merge with diverse cultures, religions, race and beliefs needing tolerance, to each his own.  Rules don’t apply and rebellion sets in when bored or bogged down with an itch to experiment and take the road less traveled.  When Saturn is trying to squelch and keep  life in line with rules and regulations and get you to grow up, Uranus, ruler of Aquarius, will offset and balk at establishment with off kilter antics, just enough to stir up, wake up or shock into new found awareness.

The New Moon in Aquarius is ruled by Uranus.  Look to this New Moon to set your intention prompting some type of initiative in Aquarius style by taking a different approach, make a new friend,  break in routine or gather or join forces in order to push a cause or principle.  Aquarius gives that sprinkle of uniqueness that no one else has which separates you from the herd.  Where Aquarius or Uranus is in your chart (all signs are embodied in a chart) will show where your life has an unusual, quirky, unexpected welcome surprise.  Don’t let Sun Sign astrology confuse or fool you.  A Sun in Cancer may feel an Uranus urge more if their Sun makes an aspect to Uranus or the chart shows strong aspects to Uranus.  1st house-self expression, 7th house-partners, 10th house-career and public standing.

Aquarius abhor hypocrisy and prefer a broad perspective defending the underdog or unpopular stand with a wayward approach.  Uranus ruling Aquarius blends in with humanity and communities who join together in a brotherhood overcoming self interest, embracing difference of opinion and uniqueness,  very apparent with the terrorism crisis in Paris as groups marched together in solidarity in defense of freedom of expression. Voltaire, “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

The brotherly love of Aquarius sees the many to the few and emotional attachment or expression finds a vacant or remote exit from too thick don’t stick where “familiarity breeds contempt”.  Aquarius resides over friends and groups with a more light and unencumbered tie that allows for open and unfettered connections without obligation or demands.  Aquarius is an air sign always looking for a room with a view, with an eye to some distance to roam and clear the air to avoid being closed in by four walls.

The New Moon semi square Chiron is an emotional overspill of the aftermath of the Full Moon in Cancer Moon Wobble bringing up the deep wound and repercussions that extreme fundamental ideology running amok can cause. The New Moon helps by making a harmonious sextile to Saturn indicating taking responsible moderate actions with caution and restraint and any radical approach tempered with tolerance.

The New Moon is especially ripe with innovative new directions as Uranus in Aries, ruler of the New Moon, sits precisely over the south node in Aries.  Aries is all about starting from the beginning, in baby steps.  Uranus element of surprise and sudden separation ignites a call to new action.  The New Moon sits on a critical degree at ground zero (0), the first degree and step into a sign which is unique in the New Moon cycles lately.  The message is pushing some new type of unique spin (Aquarius-Uranus) (Aries) that re looks at limiting patterns and solutions (south node) that may be hampering future potential. Aries is ruled by Mars which addresses anything to do with assertion, self expression and self interest.  The downside or fallout is anger, hostility, conflict, selfishness and aggression, temper tantrums, spoiling for a fight.  Mars is currently in Pisces over Neptune, a relief and helpful escape route to subdue any fight and sit this one out.

Aquarius equates with space, distance and air to breathe kept outside a protective bubble giving a clearance of personal space with a certain amount of elbow room.  With Mercury in Aquarius ready to go retrograde during the New Moon in Aquarius, the topic of space and commuting has been on my mind.  When in close quarters with others, whether on a train, car or work space, we have to contend with others habits, moods and idiosyncrasies as well as smells, sounds, clipping finger nails, picking noses  and all other sorts of nasty close ups.

Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius January 21st.  I was pleased to recently read this article on retrogrades in the New York Times- Retrograde Beliefs.  Mercury is currently at a standstill where energies are at a halt with a time out with communications and regular comings and goings caught in snag or some stubborn bind.  Mercury is exalted in Aquarius, with higher minded, unbiased, original and impersonal concepts.

Aquarius is anything but pedestrian, although pedestrian accidents due to commuting frenzy have been escalating lately with too many rules being broken causing needless accidents.   Beware the sidewalk stampede or the crosswalk crash. Mercury events are my pet peeve. Being a Gemini, ruled by Mercury, I constantly witness and experience rash and poor Mercury behavior whether its communication, driving, biking, skating, walking, commuting, etc. and with it a distinct tone to sidewalk etiquette and entitlement how we walk this way, and that.  Being a flexible and adaptable Gemini, I have a habit of continuously moving out of the way and giving up my right to my part of the sidewalk.

With Aquarius as a fixed energy that doesn’t bend easy, and my 1st house Jupiter in Aquarius for self preservation, it was time for me to literally stand my ground and dig in my heels and take back my sliver of sidewalk turf while not giving any more inches.  Needless to say, this has proven to be an exercise in futility.   I am a big city dweller so accept the busy and condensed reality but had to put my foot down to claim an edge of the sidewalk or else get shoved off into oncoming traffic or over a cliff.

It’s not just the careless drivers so much as the often clueless and mindless who aren’t being defensive enough where look both ways is now replaced with head looking down at the jingle on the phone.  I shudder and cringe seeing a baby stroller pull out into the street with mother on cell phone talking or texting without any careful assessment of her surroundings never mind also being unaware with an eye out for oncoming umbrellas pointing straight at your heart lest one miss a text, or bikers on sidewalks or paths speeding through stop signs knocking one off their feet or dogs off leash biting bums or worst yet, mauling and maiming babies.

Mercury continues to join Venus Aquarius keeping communications and relations with a sense of lighthearted decorum and pleasant exchange however  opposes Jupiter in Leo during the next few weeks during Mercury retrograde so expect things to getting amped up and exaggerated, overrated, over estimated with poor judgement, obnoxious and loud with a lot of talk but less action.

Saturn in Sagittarius has a strict (Saturn) moral (Sagittarius) code turning fanatic hypocrisy on its head timely with an event such as the Paris satirical publication terrorist tragedy which occurred upon Saturn’s ingress into Sagittarius during the Moon Wobble just as Mercury went into its shadow phase of the retrograde cycle, where we are often in a blind spot and in Aquarius, caught by surprise.   The Charlie Hebdo attack as well as the recent flurry over the movie, The Interview both bring up the Saturn in Sagittarius issue of  limits in  freedom of expression, censorship  in journalism, publishing and media and how far to push the envelope on polarized and extreme political and cultural beliefs when the “the pen is mightier than the sword”.
