New Moon in Taurus 2015

New Moon in Taurus 2015 “Battle of Evermore” Led Zeppelin

The New Moon in Taurus every year denotes a time of simple pleasures. Taurus calm, cool collected and chill factor promotes taking it easy. Taurus is slow moving and stays present, in order to take time to smell the flowers. Taurus is an earth sign, with an earth bound living in the now that finds a means to an end, taking a ball of clay, shaping their world, molding to form.

For Taurus, it’s tangible connections, where out of sight is out of mind and smell you later. Taurus sense of touch, smell and taste stays within an immediate peripheral awareness. The throat and neck is a Taurus focal point with voices and the throat chakra, lump in the throat needing to get cleared. Practical common sense takes precedence over blowing hot air, philosophizing on some wild blue yonder dreams without any hands on real value. Like a doubting Thomas, seeing is believing, show me the money, the ROI or the what’s in it for me.

The New Moon semi squares Venus, ruler of Taurus. Venus, ruling Taurus is always on the side of appreciating beauty and sweet sensations, and lush green pastures.  Venus currently in Cancer, with all the Taurus influence, may just want to be of the couch, lounging languid in comfort after a cozy meal, close to home, roots, family in a familiar circle. Venus is picking up to oppose Pluto which adds to powerful relationship dynamics that can get obsessive and manipulative, fearing any abandonment or change of status.

The New Moon is building to an opposition to Saturn adding to pressure and procrastination with things piling up. Opposing forces, feeling oppressed, being tested, with potential consequence around the corner and some hard work. Saturn is cracking the whip with responsibilities and boundaries looming and hanging over your shoulder. Saturn in Sagittarius can show harshness with judgement where small-minded gossip needs a heavy dose of don’t judge another until you are in his shoes.

The New Moon in Taurus falls over Algol, known and as one of the most unfortunate fixed stars that cause much catastrophe and ill effects for where it sits. Medusa as the binary star-the gorgon with her severed head and the dreaded horror, turning to stone those who gazed upon her. Its darkest influence is destructive and dangerous and tragic although Algol can show great feats of courage and creative, seductive power if it is carefully guarded and channeled constructively. It’s a potent force that renders any mayhem, fanaticism and treachery into annihilation and “losing one’s head”.

Algol casts a darkness however, in this article about the “Horror-Scope of Algol” there is always a higher purpose to any energy and Algol too isn’t all gore, gruesome, goth and gag. It is uncanny though how much and how typical it is to see issues with the neck around this degree. Any transit or aspect around this sensitive degree often shows up with some connection with darkness, rage, lust, the neck, whether sensitive to scarves, whiplash, choking, born with the umbilical cord around neck etc. I have also seen powerful voices and singers (opera) with Algol positions.

It’s no surprise that Algol is in the degree of Taurus as Taurus in its darkest hour is overcome with possession envy, jealousy and putting chains around hearts, where lust and greed rear their ugly head. The myth of Medusa is spawned by these temptations of envy, lust and jealousy. Medusa was a very beautiful priestess who was lusted after and raped by Poseidon in the sacred temple which enraged Athena, cursing Medusa with ugliness and the face of female rage. The goddess Athena, known for her intellectual and moral humility, lashed out against the abuses of hedonism with lust, greed, envy and jealousy.

Mercury retrograde in Gemini is coming to a stand still station, ready to go retrograde May 19th to June 11th although will be in its shadow til June 27th. Comes a time again to rinse and repeat, here we go again, turning back time to revisits of the past. Mercury at its retrograde point starts off with a YOD to Jupiter Pluto, a ready mix to give a piece of your mind and a good tongue lashing with some needed zipping the lip and taking time to listen.

Mercury in Gemini may want you to hit the road and talk up a storm, but mobility issues ensue. Mercury retro is slowing making its way back to square Neptune to once again be asleep at the wheel, in a haze getting lost in your head, with a need for escape. The spoken word becomes subdued, turned into inward thoughts a plenty, as time stands still and moments seem to last and last with a “hold that thought” finding the time to listen and hear the meaning in the words.

Mars entered Gemini this week with a get busy, scattered force throwing lots of balls in the air. Mars opposed Saturn giving a daunting, thwarting of energies, stifled, slowed, curtailed, to conserve and restrain. Saturn teaches to slow and take time as Mars wants to rush and push but Saturn will have no part of it which can aggravate Mars anger and impatience getting a hand of the law, lurking behind some bush waiting to issue tickets, “I fought the law and the law (Saturn) won”.

Mars builds to a square to Neptune in the next week where energy may be listless and spent from scattering energy, typical of Gemini. Mars rules over wilderness and wildlife and territorial terrain where lately it seems we are seeing more and more wildlife (bears, cougars) stepping out to stomp out our encroaching on their territory as wildlife bites back.
