New Moon in Taurus 2020

The New Moon in Taurus falls on Earth Day this year (April 22nd) and accentuates all things earth with a strong focus on earth signs (Taurus, Capricorn) and practices (practical, concrete, grounded, patient, solid, methodical). The New Moon is join Uranus Taurus square Saturn Aquarius semi square Neptune. The Covid pandemic – not normal is the new normal. The New Moon in Taurus in aspect to Uranus, accentuates all Uranus energies such as weird, shock,  disruptive, unusual, the shoe dropping, rugged being pulled from under, unexpected, no real sense of stability and continued uncertainty along with Saturn limits, denials, delays, restrictions and Neptune unknowns.

With the strong Taurus energy infused that prefers stability, predictability, calm, the status quo,  hinged with an Uranus twist, the new normal is morphed into an unusual new routine and new reality of slow paced, stay home, distant,  away from the rat race, laying on the couch in the new sloth style; yet stir crazy. As the streets are deserted, and vacant, wild life and nature has taken claim and residence on the streets and neighborhoods, grazing on our front lawns.

While this new reality may feel  “far from the madding crowd”,  Uranus chaos and rebellion is close at hand.  The dark side of Taurus greed, envy can show itself in times of survival and crisis.  Taurus rules over finances, possessions, earnings and having/not having (haves and haves not) is more pronounced now causing more competitiveness and envy. When under threat, the natural instinct is to survival mentality, resorting to any means to keep hold of a sense of security.

This New Moon in Taurus is a perfect storm for unexpected (Uranus) expenses and earnings (Taurus). We are seeing it in mass proportions as so many in so many industries are suffering deeply with disruption; no work and no earnings.   This is manifesting major fear at its roots and the onslaught of emotions (anxiety, anger, irritation, panic, and major impacts on mental, emotional and physical health). Everyone has a unique response and coping mechanism during such a heightened crisis, from protests, rebellion, greed, hoarding, to aggravated response rearing its head from any ticking time bombs (such as the Halifax shooting tragedy).

During any crisis, it is typical for negative response (crisis management-reactive). Much response is very subconscious. Envy and greed comes as a feeling of threat that someone has more than someone else and impinges on the sense of if one has more (talent, wealth, knowledge, status, entitlement) that somehow that person didn’t earn it, doesn’t deserve it, so someone with lesser means doesn’t feel that they are lacking.  Often this is where you see undermining or ways to knock another person down a few notches in order to either gain position, more resources or to feel better about themselves.  It ties into the robin hood theory of steal from the rich, give to the poor.

Uranus is always pointing to change and ups and downs. Saturn points to limits, decline, old age, wisdom. Change and getting old are natural realities. The older we get the more experienced with many fluctuating cycles and the roller coaster of life.

“Necessity is the mother of invention” is the upside of Uranus. When forced, we get resourceful and inventive. Saving for a rainy day may sound cliché until the shit hits the fan and you are in crisis management.  Crisis often builds strength and opens up new ways to train the brain into channels of innovative and creative thinking and problem solving.  Uranus is typically the harbinger on the threshold of change, risk, finding new frontiers in the unknown, experimentation, doing things unheard of, starting trends, open to what’s next.
