Solar Eclipse in Scorpio November 2012

Solar Eclipse in Scorpio November 2012Solar Eclipse in Scorpio November 2012

The Solar Eclipse falls on 21 degrees Scorpio. This is a total Solar Eclipse.   The Solar Eclipse semisquares Uranus and sesquisquares Pluto.  These are minor aspects but any aspect to the outer slower moving planets are still significant.  Frustration and tension as well as pressure will be felt with Uranus pushing for change with Pluto fighting to hold the status quo.  Being the Solar Eclipse is a total eclipse and has no other mitigating aspects or support, leads to a tug of war with a relentless mission.

Scorpio, ruled by Pluto is geared toward continuous transformation and change tipping toward ongoing crisis.  Opposite the placid,  tranquil sign of Taurus, Scorpios feel life with a fierce do or die, hot or cold intensity, private and mysterious, rarely luke warm where still waters run deep.  Hypnotic, they penetrate to the core of all depths with investigative minds-researching and delving into hidden matters.  The Solar Eclipse sits on  fixed star Cor Serpentis which can bring issues with toxins, poisons, infections and battles of the will where all is fair in love and war.  Sex scandal in the CIA comes during this timely Scorpio  marker.

Sabian Symbol “Hunters starting out for ducks.  This is a symbol of the simplicity of self expression and the straightforward honesty of desire which men tend to exhibit from birth in nearly every realm of normal or everyday activity, and of the average individual’s need for genuine psychological elbow room in his dealing with the world about him. Here is a freedom of action willy-nilly, as marked in the frequent determination of the human spirit to have this by one means if not by another.  The keyword is enterprise. When positive, the degree is a complete lack of personal frustration and a constant refinement of special and practical skills in the approach to daily problems, and when negative, a callous exploitation of all life.”

This Sabian Symbol seemed very fitting following the Hunter Moon end of October and the gathering of US election troops to wage against each other in the raw battle to win, down to the instinctive level of the hunt-the drive to conquer and win.  Where one shall gain and have victory, the other shall perish and lose, all with the eye on the prize where all bets are off.  Scorpio killer instincts that hone into the root cause. The Sabian Symbol for the Scorpio nodal axis degree is also noteworthy as it stations at 26 degrees from October to December.

“A military band on the march.  This is a symbol of the human spirit’s continual desire to avoid everyday trivialities and drabness, ever pressing on toward some goal which can become a basis for a more enduring and individual reality. The blare of self-affirmation is a rejection of the lesser experience which brings only a self-satiety, and its martial nature arises from the realization that things of worth must be gained at the price of a thoroughly self-mobilized effort.  The keyword is Intrepidity.  When positive, the degree is a dramatic capacity for drawing events to a focus and directing their course successfully to what might have seemed impossible ends, and when negative, foolhardy self-exploitation.”

This Sabian Symbol demonstrates the sheer resilience and persistent energy put forth in our efforts as of late proven a fine example with the US election campaign.   The will of Scorpio to keep marching on and forward no matter the challenge or barrier in front of us.  The marching military band keeps at a steady, sturdy pace of straight and stringent stride, with sharp attention to the goal in mind, channeling energies and intentions to desired successful ends. The positive direction fights against exploitation and manipulation-cutting and shooting straight through, prevailing over any negative influence.

Scorpio is the sign of shared resources, investments, inheritance, taxes, debt, intimacy, insurance, welfare, disability, pensions, collective monies, will power and tenacity. Knowing where to plant the seeds that shine a light on Scorpio values brings this eclipse to successful fruition.  Saturn is also in Scorpio and is the reaper of consequence.  Any action taken holds serious long term consequence especially as it relates to debt, shared resources, sexual bonds, insurance and endings/death.  This is a total solar eclipse-the effects will last into early next year – especially as the nodal axis moves to the degree point of this eclipse – February 2013.

Scorpio, ruled by Pluto is serious business. We now see with the US Election democratic win forcing the hand of more taxes for the rich.  The jig is up and its time to pay the piper. The extensive republican investments in the election campaigns suffered extreme loss although one can see the investment wasn’t a total loss as it brought to light Obama’s victory with the Scorpio mission about sharing and giving back-dispersing the wealth.  Scorpio represents finding support in others and not having to go it alone and so it goes to accept help when needed and to know you will always be provided for when running into hard financial times.

The eclipse joins the Scorpio nodal axis bringing Scorpio themes to the forefront which will linger.  The test of a strength of an eclipse is its closeness in aspect to the nodal axis -here by 4 degrees which heightens the vibration. This is a north node eclipse which is a forward futuristic eclipse.  This eclipse suits the new direction for the US with the reappointment of Obama and the campaign momentum to move “forward”.   New beginnings in shared resources, deep intimacy and sexual bonding and intensity.  The dirty dealing dark side of Scorpio, ruled by Pluto with power plays, revenge, vindictiveness, betrayal, secret weapons, ganging up, bullying, rage, sexual abuse and pulling out the big guns-Plutocrats and wealthy ruling classes is under extreme testing (Saturn) with the hedging fiscal cliff-literally sitting on a precipice point on a cliff hanger.

The Scorpio road of power, dominance and manipulation is moving toward a landslide and topple down that cliff-where following Neptune principles of collective embracing of a supportive safety net is a necessary consequence. Neptune stationed direct November 11th- Neptune carries forward the last eclipse from May, June 2012 – I drew the Fool from the Tarot during the Full Moon September 2012. The Fool depicts taking the leap over the edge or the plunge – sitting at a breaking point of no return. The lesson is taking the higher road of Saturn and responsibility and reality with Neptune idealism on hope that is attainable and not as a sacrifice for dignity and integrity.

The north node focuses on positive new directions while the south node tends to old worn out safety comfort zones.  Our previous Solar eclipse in May 2012 was a south node eclipse which showed the passing through of ways that were limiting and ran their course.  The south node in Taurus shows how we have to let go of the need to hold onto anything-Taurus tend toward self sufficiency and avoiding change.   The north node can often be equated with taking the high road-in Scorpio, it is taking the evolutionary step, having the courage to take the risks and make the changes holding you back.   The Sun will join with the north node on November 18th which will bring up to speed anything that was planted November 13th.  Mercury retrograde will also move back into Scorpio and retouch the north node on November 17th bringing alignment to Scorpio and the Solar Eclipse and the themes of Scorpio.

Saturn Scorpio is trine Chiron Pisces which is building to a sextile with Pluto near Christmas 2012.  This is a major mutual reception we will see into 2013 with Saturn in Scorpio (ruler Pluto) and Pluto in Capricorn (ruler Saturn). Both Saturn and Pluto are considered malefic which does indicate potential hazard-the first taste we have seen with devastating Hurricane Sandy touching so close to a major metropolis. Two malefic planets in mutual reception are aiding and abetting each other to team up for the inevitable in whatever direction we choose-either constructive or destructive.

Venus in Libra is separating from a trine to Jupiter which leaves a trail of promise for prosperous, abundant and fair relationships with diplomatic leanings towards finances.  Venus moving through Libra is in its ruler where beauty and graciousness rule over any calamity.  Bargaining and negotiating take precedence to get on a balanced course.

Mercury Sagittarius is retrograde back to square Neptune at a critical degree as Neptune moved direct November 11th.  We have continued flooding and heavy rains in parts of the world.  The onslaught is seen with the aftermath of the US Election as well as Hurricane Sandy as many begin to rebuild from the damages, still without power, suffering with the cold temperatures. Saturn is inconjunct Uranus- Saturn represents cold and inconjuncts are about adjustments. Saturn is government and in Scorpio – shared resources.  The 50 billion that it is costing for the damages signifies the Saturn in Scorpio losses.

Just before the Election, the Moon entered Leo and created a grand trine in fire signs with Mercury Sagittarius and Uranus Aries.  Obama  told an inspiring story during his final campaign speech about being fired up and ready to go.  Edith Child’s  “Are you fired up, ready to go?”  created momentum as a legacy of keeping up the fight and keep keeping on. Obama is strongly fiery with a Leo Sun Mercury/Uranus/Nodal axis.  Leo fire is his mantra-the center of attention, to shine and rule on a Leo stage.

Obama showed a touching follow up meeting with his staff as he shed tears showing his true heartfelt (Leo) passion and emotional investment in others.  Obama has a strong western weighted chart which shows his concern for the welfare of others. The tears were probably partially from sheer exhaustion – Obama does have a Chiron return now in Pisces- a pretty strong water element and having Sun square Neptune Scorpio-this is his deeply compassionate and emotional side. Venus Cancer/MC Scorpio.  Moon square Pluto-all strongly emotional caring

The night of the election, I drew a tarot reading with the Ace of Pentacles (money-economy new start), crossed by the King of Cups (Obama), the new focus 5 of Pentacles (loss of focus on money) and the final outcome (Magician)-Mercury retrograde.  Money can’t buy love- money and greed lose – the outcome will need special mental magic to bring unity to all principles, policy and values where sharing presides.

Mars in Sagittarius is building to form a sextile to Neptune which should bring constructive action and steps using the helpful hand of Neptune intuition to help mitigate some of the confusion of Mercury retrograde although Mars is also not far from squaring Uranus ( November 24) and join Pluto in Capricorn which will adds sparks, excitement and sudden fireworks if not explosiveness and possible rage to the Lunar Eclipse in Gemini November 28th.
