Full Moon in Cancer 2014

Full Moon in Cancer 2014Full Moon in Cancer 2014

The Full Moon in Cancer brings the cycle of Capricorn to its peak in its opposition to the Moon in Cancer.  This Full Moon in Cancer is also called a Wolf Moon, rightly named as it’s truly turning into a howler of a Moon with explosive emotion.  The wolf actually howls because it is expressing its longing  being separated from its pack, hence the association with Cancer and emotions and the bonds of kinship and close relations.  Wolves are nocturnal so it’s no surprise their association with the night sky and the Moon.

The cardinal cross including the Capricorn stellium with Pluto (extremes), ruled by Saturn (cold) strain Uranus (wind, storms) and oppose Jupiter (excess) had us become acquainted with the polar vortex phenomena.  The polar vortex big chill wind circles around the arctic however in these unusual unpredictable cycles, the shifts pushed out the wind out of bounds.  Climate change where the warm currents melting the arctic ice is shape shifting the polar vortex winds in the winter making them literally more loopy hence  extending further south.   We saw this in the summer of 2013 with the cardinal cross in Cancer, the opposite effect with very high heat and humidity.

The Moon in Cancer pings the crisis in the cardinal cross to heat things up from the Saturn Capricorn stellium up against its opposing partner, Jupiter in Cancer the last week.  The Capricorn mission weighing in all the resolutions to restrict, limit and discipline with boundaries, delayed gratification and cold snaps is tested with a rash of Jupiter Cancer meltdowns and excess, overzealous, going over the edge, being rubbed the wrong way with Jupiter oppositions and poor judgement, fanatical rants,  protesting, pushed to the limit in extremes as Jupiter Cancer fights the harsh reality with a low tolerance to resistance and a needed relief of Cancer comfort, a sense of safety, solace and lifting the spirit with some warm fuzzy nuzzling up in the cold.

The Full Moon in Cancer also builds a solid aspect to Saturn which tempers and addresses any excess and keeps everything moderate. Every energy pattern whether stressful or positive has a way to positively or negatively manifest and express.  A stressful energy has powerful opportunity to transform, act and change but also has the negative side to destroy and self destruct.  A harmonious energy gives grace to relax and eat bonbons but to also bring inaction that accomplishes nothing.

Venus Sun Capricorn joined in the inferior conjunction January 11th.  Venus in retrograde tightens up some aspects bringing up Venus principles top of mind.   Venus is the natural ruler of Taurus and Libra, the heart chakra, the color green and pink, balance with the darker side of Venus in retrograde bringing out the ugly side of Venus who plays dirty by social tactics such as snubbing, ostracizing, exclusion and back stabbing, taking out any authenticity and painting a put on, superficial show.

Venus retrograde hits a hard stride collision course mid January to mid February 2014 activating a square to Mars, oppose Jupiter and join Pluto that instigates the attraction/desire magnetism and raging hormones on a rampage.  Venus square Mars also makes a minor stressful aspect with Neptune which adds some uncertainty and lack of clear direction with misty, wistful conditions.  Cat fights and love bites showing poor taste, timing and decorum typical of Venus retrograde are more pronounced this week  as Venus beauty gets a run through the mill with all the bickering and badgering  where some attention to picking your battles gets a call out once again.

Venus Capricorn retrograde draws all the lines in relationship patterns and choices and takes a closer look at values, what feeds you and nurtures you with a time to correct and check any dysfunctional codependency at the door as the perpetual door mat and victim with self pity parties being walked over to accepting that it’s better to be alone than be subjected and to tolerate any unfairness and imbalance in a relationship and to expect give and take while laying strong foundations.

Venus in Capricorn ultimately takes responsibility and wants substance at the core above and beyond any superficial shiny outer.  Venus retrograde turns love inward and toward the self where love and self respect come first before love can be extended outward.  Self pampering and refreshing outdoors are a great remedy through the earthy Venus in Capricorn sojourn to take time to treat the self and tend to self love.

Mars in Venus ruled Libra further brings up how we pair bond and further reinforces any Venus Libra issues.  Mars Libra also goes retrograde beginning of March 2014 and stays in Libra until July 2014 with holding patterns and back ups with more issues with Libra and the kidneys, lower back, holding back, backing  up, back against a wall, back log, getting your back up, getting a back bone, someone has your back etc. all fitting with the plethora of retrogrades and going backwards with Venus Mars Mercury keeping us busy in retrogrades until June 2014.

The bigger picture and flow to this Full Moon  in Cancer is with Neptune in Pisces in line with the nodal axis in Scorpio triggered by the Moon in Cancer in a grand trine showing up as idealism and hope throughout the storm.  “Hope is the only thing stronger than fear” with that glimmer of hope as our leap of faith.  The number 7 figures in prominent in this Full Moon being January 15 equals 7 as does 2014.  The focus can either be on the 7 cardinal sins or the 7 heavenly virtues lust or purity, overindulgence or temperance, greed or giving, laziness or diligence, anger or composure, jealousy or kindness and pride or humility.
